Originally bought this as a travel hub, but it's now become my permanent desktop hub. It's very neatly designed and has just enough ports for my day-to-day work.

Works amazing great powered USB hub

The video shows exactly what you get and my initial impressions of build quality as well as a quick overview of the ports, so I won’t go into all that here. Instead, I’ll go into what I consider most important: the transfer speeds and the port functionality. Full testing methodology included below for your information, but really, the summary is all you need to know. Summary: Superb quality hub. The top port is just a 40Gbps USB C passthrough and the lower port handles the other features. All ports worked exactly as specified. Clever design marred only slightly by the huge Plugable logo on top. Pros & Cons: + Good/expected: Almost no drop in performance for the USB 3.1 Type C, USB 3 Type A and Network ports compared to plugging into the computer directly. - Bad/disappointing: None. ----------------------------------------- Testing methodology: - USB 3.1 type C: Control - 10 GBps SSD enclosure containing 3300 MB/s NVMe SSD plugged directly into a USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps) Type C socket on the test PC (CrystalDiskMark benchmark 1065.74 MB/s); Test - Same drive plugged into the 10Gbps USB 3 type C port on this hub. - USB 3 type A: Control - 10 GBps SSD enclosure containing 3300 MB/s NVMe SSD plugged directly into a USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5Gbps) Type A socket on the test PC (CrystalDiskMark benchmark 464.20 MB/s); Test - Same drive plugged into the 5Gbps USB 3 type A port on this hub. - Network (Ethernet): Control - Average of 5 x DownTester file copy benchmarks (425.60 Mbps), connected to server on home network using 1Gbps eth ports routed via 1 Gbps network switch; Test - Same cable, same PCs but one connected to the ETH port on this hub. Results: - USB 3.1 Type C speed: 1063.84 MB/s (1.9 MB/s slower than control) - USB 3 Type A speed: 461.62 MB/s (2.58 MB/s slower than control) - Network speed: 419.56 Mbps (6.04 Mbps slower than control)

Works as it should, my only issue is you gain 2 USB 3 ports but loose 1 USB C Port, which is a shame.

A great addition to my Macbook Pro M1.

Bought this a year ago for my Macbook pro when I needed more USB ports. Plugged perfectly, like an extension of the laptop, without the inconvenience of flippy dongles. Few months ago, tried out the 3.5mm audio jack, and to my horror, did not work at all. Tried out several other earbuds to ascertain that the audio jack is indeed not functioning. Now wondering how do I claim warranty for this faulty unit. This review is written on 16 Sept 2024 from Singapore

This 5 in 1 or rather 5 in 2, gadget does what few others will do. It will allow you to charge your MacBook where every other brand of hub I looked at that offered a similar set up for a 5 in 2 to a 14 in 2 that utilize the left hand ports won't allow you to charge your MacBook while your using them! I mean... hello, McFly, anyone home? Then there are those 8 in 1 to 14 in 1 hubs that rely on a wire leading to any one of your usb-c ports on your Mac. The trouble with that style, for anyone who travels a lot and relies upon that hub, that wire connecting the usb-c port to the hub goes bad fairly quickly. Enter pluggable, and the game changes. The model I received is a 5 in 2. Not a 5 in 1 as described. not even as labeled on its box. But fret not. That's not a knock against this tiny shining beast. Even though it takes up both usb-c ports on the left side of your MacBook it still has a headphone jack in it and more. That and this things is built very, very well. Overall this plugable device offers too much as a bonus to really count anything against it. It's made of quality materials, looks good when attached to my MacBook and rests evenly both with the top and bottom to the keyboard side of the laptop, meaning the display closes with no fear of damaging it, and it rests level on your desk. It doesn't wobble or give either. Once you have it connected it's as if the thing were part of the pre-manufactured whole. It is easy to forget you even have this device plugged into the MacBook and data transfer rates are amazing. I have had no issues what so ever with this device, having relied upon heavily during international travel. It's become my go to and favorite hub for work.

Just what the doctor ordered, works perfectly, the MacSafe cutout fits perfectly and I am very happy with the Ethernet port. All in all a great addition to my MacBook Air.
