Great everyday shoe!
I wear a 11.5 in Altra, 12 in OC, and 11.5 in Nike. I love Altra the most because of the wide toe box. I’ve had these shoes for 10 months or so. I wear them to work 12+ hours a day (I’m a Murse -male nurse) and I am running around all day. These shoes fit great, feel great and the quality is pretty good for 10 ish months of constant wear. Granted I am indoors majority of the time hence why the tread isn’t completely gone. Walking and running ability, I recommend these because they are comfortable. They breathe enough and the color has held up over time with me cleaning and wiping them off from with hospital wipes. The heel has started to fall apart and that is sad but still ok. Just gotta wear a higher sock now. Still work great and feel great. I even play pickleball in them!

Wide-Toebox, high arches, love them!
The first thing I notice with Altras is the FootShape toe box. It actually gives my toes room to spread naturally without feeling sloppy or loose, which makes a huge difference on longer runs. A lot of other brands claim to have “wide” options, but they still feel cramped compared to Altra’s design. The arch support works really well for me. My feet feel secure and stable, but not forced into an unnatural shape. Combined with the balanced zero-drop platform, the shoes encourage a more natural stride and keep me from getting the aches I used to feel in my knees and hips after piling on miles. Durability is another strong point. I average about 20 miles per week, and my past Altras have held up far better than I expected. The cushioning doesn’t pack down quickly, and the uppers stay supportive even after months of wear. These already feel like they’ll give me the same reliable performance. Comfort-wise, I can put them on and head straight out for a run without a long break-in period. The lightweight build and responsive cushioning make every mile enjoyable, whether it’s a short recovery jog or a longer training run. Overall, Altra has become my go-to brand because they simply fit feet like mine the way running shoes should. If you’ve got wide feet, high arches, or just want a shoe that lets your foot move naturally, I highly recommend giving them a try.

Escalante 3 is a much better walking shoes than 4
This order took hell of a time to arrive! Escalante 3 is still the most comfortable walking shoes. The 4 had thin and stiff support and the thin tongue is annoying. It moves around too much.

Excellent shoe for runners
One of my favorites for intermediate runs. Great comfort, support and flexibility. I’ll be getting another pair when these waer down.

Comfortable zero drop shoes with wide toe-shaped front and good cushioning
I recently purchased the ALTRA Men's AL0A7R6M Escalante 3 Road Running Shoe in orange and I'm very impressed with the performance of these shoes. The shoes have a modern and stylish design with a comfortable fit. The shoe is lightweight, making it perfect for long distance runs, and the cushioning provides great support to the feet, making it comfortable for extended use. The shoe is also breathable, allowing my feet to stay cool and dry even during intense workouts. Be aware though, since they are zero-drop, your ankles might initially get a bit sore, but after a few runs this went away! One of the unique features of this shoe is the FootShape toe box, which allows the toes to relax and spread out naturally, improving balance and stability. This feature has really helped me maintain my form during runs and reduced the risk of injuries. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase of the ALTRA Men's AL0A7R6M Escalante 3 Road Running Shoe. I highly recommend these shoes to anyone looking for a comfortable and reliable running shoe.

These shoes are so comfortable
I wear these for work and find them durable and very comfortable. The wide toe box is so nice. No more squished toes. There is ample cushion and tread making them a great walking shoe. I am hard on shoes and admit I have put them in the washing machine before. While they dont say washable...mine came out just fine.

Super comfortable
This is my second pair of these. The upper is really lush and feels great on pavement. They are light but have enough cush to have taken me though marathon training this fall. At about 350 miles I started getting knee and ankle pain. Replacing the shoes eliminated the pain so I feel sure they were breaking down but that's to be expected. The only thing I haven't liked about these is how much water they take on in the rain. They get very heavy almost like a pair of socks might. Great shoes, they look super cool too.

Toe box is narrow
Although these still have a more natural toe shape than the average narrow toe running shoe, they are too narrow for the intended purpose. I switched to natural toe shoes after my big toe became too far directed inward that it rolls outward as I launch off my toes. The pinch callous was getting painful, as was the toe joint. My vivobarefoot and Xero running shoes have a good, natural toe box that allows my toes to splay enough for my big toe not to roll out. These escalantes put firm pressure inward on my big toe, and my pinch callous flares like crazy as I run. The added cushioning compared to other brands is nice for Altra to maintain. However, the toe box is becoming too narrow with each generation after the brand was sold to its current owner. It is unfortunate. Would not recommend for those who need a natural toe box

I've recently migrated to zero drop and barefoot shoes for trail running and everyday walking, so wanted to do the same for road running. I have to say these are the most comfortable road shoes I've owned. They are also light and feel fast. Would definitely purchase again.

Great shoes with a nice wide toe box. I have double or triple E feet. These are fantastic. Wish I could afford to buy several pairs.

I've been running with barefoot shoes for some time and have been very happy with them. However recently I had problems with sore ankles so decided to try these Altras with a bit more cushioning, but still with wide toe box. I'm really liking them. Just a bit easier on the ankle joints, but not these horrible super bouncy thing that feel like trying to run on a trampoline. They look good to me and seem well made. Five stars.
