Powerful Performance in a Budget-Friendly Package
I’ve been using the GIGABYTE G5 KF for a few months now, and overall, I’m very pleased with the performance, especially for the price. The RTX 4060 paired with the Intel i5-12500H handles modern games really well at 1080p with high settings, and the 144Hz screen makes everything feel super smooth and responsive. The build quality is decent—definitely plastic, but it doesn’t feel cheap. The keyboard has a nice feel and is comfortable for both gaming and typing. The backlit keys are a nice touch too. One thing to note: 8GB of RAM is pretty limited if you’re multitasking or using heavier programs, but it’s upgradeable, so I added another 8GB stick and it made a huge difference. The SSD is fast and gives quick boot times and load speeds. Thermals are okay—it does get warm under load, but the fans do a good job keeping it in check. It’s a bit loud during gaming, but nothing unexpected. For gaming, school, or light editing work, this is a solid machine that punches above its price range. Just consider upgrading the RAM for the best experience.

The best value laptop for machine learning and gaming
This is the only sub-$1000 4060 laptop on the market today. I bought it not to play games, but to do machine learning (AI, pre-trained/large language modeling) AND, yeah, to play the occasional game on the road. I can see why people are slightly disappointed if they only want to use this for gaming. I get it. I have the Gigabyte Aero 15 XD, which is a 4K OLED, RTX 3070, multiple ports, great speakers, great display, fast processor, yada yada yada. Compared to my Gigabyte Aero 15 XD, the Gigabyte G5 KF, is lacking in screen resolution (1080p), port features (for example, the USB-A do not drive external displays, can't power laptop through USB-A, HDMI not connected to GPU), speakers are tinny, display isn't as crisp, processor isn't as powerful, and so on. But we're talking a sub-$1000 machine versus a $2000 machine. The sound can be fixed with headphones, and you can plug in an external display if you need a nicer screen. For machine learning, it is perfect. The VRAM is 8GB which fits most of the distilled, small-to-medium, models on HuggingFace. I've trained small language models (several hundred thousand parameters) from scratch, and it zooms. I was curious how much faster a 4060 was compared to an old nvidia 860M. The 4060 has 3072 CUDA cores, compared to 1152 for the 860M. The test model I trained completed in 5 minutes on a 4060 versus 90 minutes for the 860M (1152 CUDA cores). But I digress, it is perfect for machine learning, and only slightly slower than my Desktop 3060 and 3070 machines for deep learning training. I did try one AAA video game: Starfield, ultra settings. It only did 30-40 fps. But it was playable. Lower settings did get >60fps. To summarize, as a portable machine learning machine, it is AWESOME with a capital "A". A good gaming machine speed wise, but only ok sound-wise and display-wise. Note: I did upgrade to 32GB ram and an extra 1TB nvme-ssd. But even with these additions, it was LESS THAN $1000!

Would have been great but........
Bought this last year. Seemed like a great price, great value, and great stats, however please read all reviews and more importantly watch YouTube reviews. This laptop has two major flaws: 1, it does not dissipate heat well at all so you need a chiller pad. 2, the power supply is too weak, it will overheat and cause performance issues . Had to buy an MSI power supply with more power so the computer would not freeze and shut down while playing games. Once the new power supply and chillipad were purchased, most of the major issues went away. The only lasting issue is, in performance mode, devices connected to USB type-c inputs tend to shut off and come back on. I am tech savvy so I checked all the drivers I checked everything nothing in the performance mode setting should have anything to do with the USB ports performance however it does affect it. If I'm not in performance mode, or not playing games these things do not happen. Now compared to some of the competitors with older Hardware costing a couple of hundred dollars more than this one overall I would say it's a 4.5 out of 5. So to recap get a better power supply. And get a laptop Chiller pad. As long as these items are purchased this laptop will give you great performance as a gaming PC.

Battery life is terrible and had 4 RMAs to fix crashes
Read the reviews before you buy this thing. I must of have been blind sided by the deal I got when buying it. The battery life is terrible. It lasts less than 2 hours while browsing the internet even with the GPU disabled in Armory Crate. It sometimes shuts off when battery saver turns on at around 10-20%. I also experienced BSOD crashes that took 4!!!!! RMAS to finally resolve. The whole RMA process took HALF A YEAR to get my laptop fixed. I had to push back so much during the RMA process to get them to do any worth while testing. It turned out to be a bad M.2 drive. I could never recommend this to someone.

The Charger overheats.
The system is powerful and does it's job well. I have several games that auto set to EPIC or MAX settings, BUT the charger overheats when playing too long. I've never had a charger overheat before. I'm currently looking for a better one to use. Also not the promised model number G5 KF-E3US333SH I checked the laptop and the model number on the sticker is AX211NGW, and there are no PROMISED thunderbolt USB ports.

As an avid tech enthusiast, I was initially drawn to the sleek design and promising specifications of the GIGABYTE Laptop. However, what seemed like a promising investment soon turned into a frustrating ordeal. Shortly after the return window closed on Amazon, my laptop began exhibiting troubling symptoms. Random blue screens, accompanied by cryptic hardware error messages, became a regular occurrence. Worse still, the Wi-Fi connection would intermittently vanish without warning, leaving me stranded until a full reboot. The lack of a GIGABYTE service center in Saudi Arabia exacerbated my predicament. With no local support available, I embarked on a futile quest to find solutions. Countless calls and exhaustive online searches yielded no tangible results. The absence of a positive response left me feeling utterly disappointed. While I understand that technical issues can arise, the absence of adequate support channels is inexcusable. As consumers, we rely on the assurance of post-purchase assistance, especially when investing in high-end products. GIGABYTE's failure to provide accessible support tarnishes their reputation and undermines confidence in their brand. In conclusion, my experience with the GIGABYTE Laptop has been marred by persistent hardware issues and a glaring lack of support. As a consumer in Saudi Arabia, navigating this ordeal without a local service center has been a frustrating and disheartening experience. Potential buyers should exercise caution and consider alternative options until GIGABYTE addresses these critical shortcomings.
