Even though this book is written by an American there is still lots of really information in it for the UK based person. So far I'm very please with what I have read. Also the author emails back answers to responds your questions.

A very well-explained technical text book.

Interesting read & helpful, but not 1 single diagram. "A picture can paint a thousand words" Disappointed.

Excellent book on the solar electric covers all aspects and very easy to follow

This book gave me exactly what I had been looking for! I've read many web articles for basic information to design and build my own solar system for simple projects. But some of the details I've been wanting have escaped me. This book did a great job filling in the technical details I'd been looking for! For example, on solar controllers, I'd read many similar descriptions on the difference between PWM and MPPT controller technologies for solar-charging batteries. But I could find nothing on the exact details of what a "Max Power Point" represents (in an MPPT controller) and how determining and measuring this helps the controller be more efficient than PWM. The author's descriptions and charts in the chapter "Different Charge Controllers" gave me exactly what I wanted to know, in relatively simple terms for a beginner. The chapter on "Selecting a Charge Controller" also gave me the details on why a 24V solar panel works better with MPPT controllers for charging a 12V battery in less-than-ideal sun conditions. The MPPT controller I ended up buying recommended a 24V solar panel (or series pair) for that controller with a 12V battery, and this section of the book gave me a good description for why. All stuff I didn't know I needed to know for even my simple solar projects! So, in addition to providing convenient refreshers and handy formulas on basic electronics needed for my projects, this book provided me answers to questions I had on selecting the right combination of solar panel(s) and controllers to get my projects working correctly! Great reference guide and tutorial book!

Great book. Fast delivery.

The book deals with all fundamentals and gives step by step guidance for building an off grid solar power unit. It has lots of drawings and easy to understand technical terms. It will be very helpful for solar power enthusiast and also professionals.

Electronics is a really technical subject, and I found this book a guide to exactly what is says on the cover. I know that nowadays there are plenty of online tutorials for this sort of thing - I watched those too. But sometimes the online stuff doesn't quite have the space to go in-depth into the topic (it can be too much for a 20min video to cover). I appreciated the in-depth and step-by-step guidance this book provided. I'm using it to set up my offgrid system in my food garden and on my vehicle. p.s. apprarently the book has links to their own online resources. I haven't checked that out yet, only read the book.
