Great Sprayer. Be careful storing next to dissimilar metals
I really liked this sprayer after years of throwing away cheap hardware store sprayers. I had and loved this sprayer for about 2 years no problems. However, I felt it important to point out that I had mine stored next to an aluminum support in a Superior Wall constructed for my shed. The stainless steel and aluminum created a chemical reaction that corroded the base weld of the sprayer. A fascinating but expensive chemistry experiment 😁. Likely to buy another one though

Durable and lightweight!!
It isn’t anywhere near as heavy as you would think. Extremely durable. Works very well. Easy adjustments of sprayer. Cleans well. And made in USA. Trust me, it’s worth the extra money. Consistent use for more than 6 months with NO issues.

Pump is plastic-Not metal
Pump is PLASTIC. Disappointed for the price. Tank and hose are bullet proof. Works well.

Beware Chapin sprayer!
Like many people these days, I no longer use Roundup and other such chemicals for weed abatement in my yard. I've turned to a vinegar + saline solution, which is non-toxic for bugs and animals. After using a few plastic pump sprayers, I wanted to buy a more heavy-duty sprayer. After much research, I turned to the Chapin 1254. I used it once, and that did it in. The seal on the bottom of the plunger buckled (see photo). I had chosen Chapin precisely because on the Amazon web site it was advertised as an "all-purpose" sprayer featuring "chemical-resistant seals and gaskets for stronger weed and pest control chemicals." Elsewhere it says: "COMPATIBLE SEALS & GASKETS: use stronger fertilizers, weed killers, and pesticides." After the unit stopped working, I contacted Chapin, and they said that the manufacturer's users manual said: "Never spray flammable, caustic, acidic, bleach or other corrosive solutions or heat, pressure, or gas producing chemical." I responded that that warning should have been given to me BEFORE I purchased the unit, not afterwards and only in fine print. I asked for my money back. Nikki Ferrin, the Product Support Representative, refused to do so (not much Product Support there). She gave me the part number for the seal, though she said that vinegar would only buckle it again. I called the parts department, and they wanted $50 for the seal! No way. Anyway, buyers beware! Chapin has a CYA exclusion that you learn about (if at all) only upon delivery, and only if you decide the fine print clearly contradicts the product description on the website. The website, I'd say, is fraudulent, because it promises, several times, that "stronger" chemicals won't hurt the unit, and that "all-purposes" will be accommodated. Not a word about limitations. I paid good money for the damn thing. Based on my experience, I'd say the company is disreputable, as well as rude. And it's "heavy-duty" sprayer sucks. Spend your money elsewhere, I say!

Quality at last!
With two acres of mostly landscaped yard I needed a sprayer that would go more than one season and when it wears out can be repaired instead of thrown away(I recently took three old plastic ones to the dump). After much research and finally deciding to spend the extra for the stainless steel model, my spayer arrived from Chapin. I could not be more pleased. I took it out and two things were immediately apparent, first it is of very solid construction and all of the parts are high quality and can be replaced if they do wear or break. It worked beautifully and I know this is the last sprayer I will be buying. You can spend $300 or more from a commercial supplier and get this type of quality but I hoped I could do that for under $100 and the Chapin Premier Model 1253 is it.

Looks great out of the box
Out of the box this thing looks like it will last a lifetime. Until you put some liquid in it the first time. Immediately the hose clamps will leak so you have to replace those right off the bat. The pump shaft's metal rod will start rusting soon after first use, that need ongoing attention. Using any kind of weed killer from the hardware store you will have a clogged sprayer tip within 5 days. Requires constant disassembly and cleaning. Make sure you wear rubber gloves with this sprayer because the handle will leak and the constant messing about with the adjustable spray tip will require proper protective gloves. Overall the metal tank is the only solid part with this sprayer. For the price it is disappointing that the accessory parts will fail rather quickly and require replacement.

For general gardening work, the price/performance ratio is reasonable.
The Chapin 1254 Multi-Purpose Sprayer looks sturdy, and the 2-gallon capacity is a good size for home or small garden use. The nozzle adjustment function is good, the spray is even, and it is easy to use. However, I found the shoulder strap design to be a little uncomfortable, which may be a bit uncomfortable for long-term use. Overall, it performs well, but the experience would be better if the comfort of the shoulder strap could be improved. For general gardening work, the price-performance ratio is reasonable.
