This is a very solid mechanical keyboard from Redragon, who do make some really nice gaming peripherals. The build quality is brilliant, featuring a nice aluminium case though it does make it quite weighty so it's not the most ideal keyboard to bring around if you commute on public transport. Both the PBT keys and switches are easily swappable (it includes a puller tool), and includes four extra switches should you want to replace any. I do like the linear switches on these, they give a very nice audible clack, which have super smooth travel and makes typing effortless. The size is almost identical to my son's SteelSeries Apex 7 75% keyboard, but this retains a full 100% size by squashing the size of keys down slightly though I found this still easy to use with minimal typos. I have yet to use the software to configure this keyboard (lights, knob control, macros etc) but found the built in RGB effects were pretty cool, a lot more interesting than my Cherry XTRFY keyboard, though it's maximum brightness is pretty dim during the day, around 30% less than my Cherry and Razer keyboards. Very happy with the functionality of this so far, and at £65, I think this is great value for money.

Beim Gaming stört dies überhaupt nicht – schnelle Eingaben, Makros oder Spieleaktionen lassen sich problemlos ausführen. Wer hingegen viel schreibt, vor allem Texte mit Sonderzeichen, wird anfangs eine Umgewöhnung merken. Mit etwas Übung gewöhnt man sich jedoch schnell daran, und danach ist das Schreiben genauso komfortabel wie gewohnt. Verarbeitung & Qualität: Die K740 macht einen sehr stabilen und hochwertigen Eindruck. Die Aluminiumbasis sorgt für ein solides Gewicht, sodass die Tastatur auf dem Schreibtisch festliegt und sich nicht verschiebt. Die PBT-Tastenkappen fühlen sich angenehm an, sind abriebfest und hinterlassen auch nach längerer Nutzung keine glänzenden Stellen. Funktionen & Extras: Hot-Swap-fähige Schalter für individuelle Anpassungen. Lineare Schalter für schnelles und leises Tippen beim Gaming. Dedizierte Knöpfe für Multimedia oder Beleuchtungskontrolle. RGB-Beleuchtung, die sich individuell einstellen lässt. Fazit: Die Redragon K740 ist eine erstklassige mechanische Gaming-Tastatur, die durch hochwertige Verarbeitung, präzises Tippgefühl und vielseitige Funktionen überzeugt. Das US-Layout ist beim Gaming unproblematisch, beim Schreiben erfordert es etwas Eingewöhnung – danach erhält man eine sehr zuverlässige und komfortable Tastatur.

Heavy. I failed to notice this was a fully aluminum construction, so when the box came I was shocked by the sheer mass of this keyboard. If all else fails, it will certainly bludgeon a home invader and probably still work afterwards. Let's talk feel: this is, apparently, one of those mechanical jobs TikTok creeps call "creamy" or something. What does that mean? The keyboard lacks the crisp click and punch of a standard mechanical key. The sound is soft, very quiet, and the action of pressing is like pushing on a marshmallow made of cold anodized aluminum... If that didn't help, it's cold, but kinda squishy, and with minimal resistance. I actually prefer this for gaming over a more typical mechanical switch, as this offers almost no initial resistance to your key press, and on release the key gently, but quickly, pops back up with almost no sound. It's weird. If you're after a crisp, clickly mechanical key board, this is not for you. Now about the lights and looks: lights off, this keyboard is sharp. The green accent keys are gorgeous and the labels are 90% legible, with a few odd design choices like the ampersand and the @ symbol being weirdly stenciled. Lights on, this keyboard is a fantastic eye bleeder. It has so many options that are an absolute blast and kept my non-tech girlfriend entertained for a full 30 minutes. I find most too bright, but of the dozen+ light modes, most can be set to a single color or mix, with variable frequency and brightness. It's well done. I haven't used any red dragon software that they advertise, because I just don't care that much. I've used this for gaming and coding and it's been great so far. My only complaint is the switch resistance is a touch too low when I start getting lazy in stealth games and leave my finger resting on a key with a s little trepidation.
