The green is softer than the red and larger. I love it for back rubs. It is soft enough that it can be moved over shoulder blades and spine without pain.

It describes both the hardness/softness of spikes and how "squeezable" they are. The hard ball is not pliable at all--very hard. The soft ball is flexible--just the right amount for me.
