Minnow Freeze Dried Cat Treats

Good packaging / keeps scent of the minnows sealed in and fresh. My cats love these as a treat or food topper!

This is a tale of two cats. One is a prissy housecat, somewhat spoiled, that is all about texture and can be finicky. The other is a junkyard farm cat that will eat anything and everything that moves. The prissy cat enjoys Purebite minnows. She'll graciously eat 3 or 4 of them and is satisfied. Junkyard farm cat goes absolutely nuts over these as if she's eating filet mignon after 3 days of starving. (She's spoiled and eats regularly, no worries. She's leaning on chunky.) What I love is that it is a very simple treat. Freeze-dried raw minnows. Yes, it smells like fish, as it should. It is all the goodness of raw food with little fuss. The minnows are delicate and will crumble easily, so they need to be handled with some care. The crumbles work nicely as cat food toppers. It may seem gross to handle them. It's not so bad. It kind of feels like delicate paper mache sculptures. For the price, it's an excellent treat overall. You get a lot of minnows in a one-ounce bag.

These freeze dried minnows are the perfect post-pill reward for my big orange cat, who needs occasional rounds for his condition. He doesn't like taking his medicine, but he knows he gets a "smellyfish" (they definitely have a little bit of an odor - they're fish!) when he takes it without giving me a ton of fuss. So he takes his medicine, gets his smellyfish reward, and we're all happy with a healthy kitty. It will absolutely depend on the cat. My tuxie doesn't like these, as they're not little filled niblet treats that he enjoys. You won't know until you try it. Also, it doesn't seem like a lot in the bag for the price, but I promise it is. If I give one every day, my cat still has a couple months of minnows in the bag. Some are tiny, but others are huge. You could reasonably break some up into two or three pieces and still have a good sized treat out of it. Remember they're freeze dried, so the overall weight is far less than if you gave fresh, non-dehydrated minnows. This little bag packs a big punch. I also learned dogs like them too, and have shared the occasional sneaky snack when my friend visits with his puppers, who is a very sweet boy. Totally worth the cost, and every bit as good if you don't have a picky snacker.

Ah, the consequences of doing anything you can to make (or save) a dollar. My cat is on a raw diet because of some GI issues. I typically get my kitty an expensive brand of freeze-dried minnows. He loves them so much, he blows through them very quickly. I decided to try these out to save some money, because I can't really afford to keep up with the expensive stuff. That was a bad choice on my part - he was almost offended when I offered them the first time, and the second time, he ate some but was, for the most part, disinterested. The quality of this product is not good, to say the least. They seem to be TOO dry to be properly freeze-dried (to save the nutritious value, anyways). They're an odd color, and have a very strong fishy/river scent to them. When you are selling a product like this in such large quantities, how can we expect that it is A. Ethically resourced, B. Not contaminated with other byproducts, and C. Comes from a reliable, healthy source of water? Some of the other photos on here are terrifying, they just go to show that not much care or effort is put into this product. I personally would rather feed my loved one a product from a company that puts care and effort into their product and isn't just worried about making a dollar.

Does not seem like the best quality compared to some of the others. Dark in color inside and out on some pieces. Cats do not like those.

My cats and dog go bananas over these treats! Perfect for your fur kids who are allergic to poultry or beef. Even my sensitive stomach kitty tolerates them well. Haven't had any allergy issues with these. They're a staple treat at my house and a healthy treat with no crap in them!

My cats LOVE these little freeze dried minnows! If you are a scent sensitive pet companion, be warned! This come with a KICK! But the kitto’s sure appreciate the crunch!! Well worth the cash spent on treats! Will be buying again!

my two picky cats are obsessed with these treats by themselves or on top of wet food! my dog also loves them as well. a great healthy food topper or treat for your pet! they were also a lot bigger than i was expecting which is great! i'd recommend to any pet owner looking for a healthy treat or topper !

My very particular cat actually loves these! It took him a bit to figure out how to eat them, though he showed interest straight away because of the smell. He previously lived in a household where he only got Temptations treats and I wanted to get him something with better ingredients and for variety. Thought these looked interesting and you can't really go wrong with PureBites. Once I realized he prefers them to be snapped in half first, he was all about them. I'm happy, he's happy, even the dog loves them haha. Will definitely purchase again!

This was my first time trying freeze dried whole minnows with my cats and they absolutely LOVED it! Yes they are fishy smelling (obviously lol) and Yes the fish at the bottom portion of the bag was a little crumbly (which is why I gave 4/5 ⭐️) but I will use those to top their meals. Overall I’m happy because they’re happy and will definitely buy this again!
