Great set of knives.

About 30 years ago I had purchased a a steel J.A. Henckels knife set before micro-serrated edges that never requires sharpening were created. I had to sharpen those knives and they served my purposes. (I was quite happy with them). Sadly they were lost during a move. Flash forward to 2017 and my new set of J.A. Henckels International SilverCap 14 piece knife block set. While these certainly are not the top of J.A. Henckels line of products I do have to they are well made. I love the fact Henckels has created an ever sharp blade that is dishwasher safe. (In the past my previous set could never be put in a dishwasher and was always hand washed and dried.) I am getting used to the serrated edge to one side of the blade, having to angle inward slightly when cutting through unpeeled onions, but once I figured out that trick I had no problem. As I practice using these new knives I am delighted to find I can slice carrots paper thin if I want to. (something that my old knife set never achieved) I do wish this set had a boning knife and perhaps one more utility knife (perhaps in lieu of so many steak knives) but overall this set is a great value and the knives are going to be a workhorse in my kitchen. I am a serious cook who requires good cutlery, good cookware, and good small kitchen appliances. These knife will easily stand up to the task.

Really like the streamlined look and smooth handle on this set of knives. Came razor sharp. I've had this brand of knife set for the past 14 years and it has been fantastic. Looking forward to using these for the next 10 plus

Good value for the price. At 62% off, is only $12 per piece, good price per knife from this brand for entry level forged steel. Has good hand feel, weight is not intimidating for beginners either. Can proudly display on the counter when entertaining especially if you’re just starting out on your own. Those who know cutlery, know the logo and will appreciate it. Be sure to hand wash and dry even though dishwasher safe. Be kind to your blades, they will last forever. At the sale price, I would recommend this set to everyone.

My mother had a set of knives from this company so I figured I would give these a try since I was having trouble sharpening my old knife set. I thought it would be a great feature to not need to be sharpened... nope, it is not worth it. I have so much difficulty cutting and cleaning the knives I use my old duller knives instead more often than not. Maybe I can salvage them and sharpen the blades anyway to get rid of that useless feature that just causes the fat from meats to get stuck and I have to remove it several times while cooking. I am glad this set works for many people, it just isn't for me.

Absolutely beautiful, functional set. These are sharp and durable. They are set in a way that is easy to pull out the correct knife and each time as well.

The knives themselves are super sharp and well balanced. However, upon opening the box I noticed a crack along the back of the knife block itself. I reached out to Henkels directly through a warranty claims, but they were unable to help.
