Lemon Flavor Without The Acid
I had never heard of Sumac until I read The Acid Watcher Diet. I have several health issues related to acid, so I've had to take lemon juice out of my diet. I used to make lemon chicken regularly and assumed I'd be forced to eat bland food forever. Dr. Aviv mentioned in his book that Sumac can be used in recipes to replace lemon juice, so I tried using it in my regular recipe. Just put chicken in a pan, add a sprinkle of Sumac, salt, pepper, and then you can also use any other seasonings like rosemary, sage, thyme or poultry seasoning. Put a little oil on top and bake at 375 until the chicken is done. I really didn't expect it to be that good, but was shocked how the chicken truly did have a lemon flavor, only without the acid problems that come with it.

Nice, tart flavor
After comparing a lot of the sumac spice choices, I chose this brand. It is pure sumac with no salt. It has a fresh, tart flavor and tastes great on chicken or beef. It's better than using lemon.

Sumac spice adds a clean, fresh taste to whatever you use it on.
I have done a lot of reading about sumac spice which peaked my curiousity, and I finally ordered the product. The day it arrived I was making a roast chicken for dinner, and sprinkled sumac spice along with a pinch of salt and pepper on the outside of the chicken. Sumac added a mild taste of lemon on the chicken which was delicious. I have used it in stir fry, in salad dressings, and fish. I would recommend sumac spice to friends and relatives. Great value. It's a great spice.

Excellent Spice
I purchased this spice to use in a red lentil soup recipe and could not find it in Philadelphia. The vendor was great the spice is delicious. I never used sumac before (it has a citrus like flavor) and now have grown so fond of it that I sprinkle it on steamed vegetables and it perks them up with few calories. Since I have never used sumac before I cannot compare the quality of this to other vendors but I am so happy with this that I will not look for other vendors and will in the future order other things from Zamouri as well.

Old, Poor Flavor, Waste of Money
This barely has any flavor. Curious if it’s mixed with anything with dyes. Perhaps it’s old or stale? Tastes very bad, not tangy or fresh. Bad with yogurt. Bad with veggies. Bad with manti. Going to try another brand.

Well, at least it smells good in here...
Well, I received my package. I will say the spice is fragrant and textured, as it exploded all over the inside of the package - everything smells like lemony sumac and is covered in a fine grit. I cannot speak to it's freshness as the fresh seal popped off inside the lid during transit. Thankfully, the other spices I ordered came in individual baggies, so nothing else was bothered. Still, I paid for a full jar of spice and am missing 2 tablespoons worth of it due to having to scrape it off everything. Advice for the seller: wrap it in plastic. 2.5/5 will be buying from my natural food store next time.

A different, lemony,mild spice.
I had a childhood friend point to "that tree" and would tell me how her grandfather made "lemonade " from it. Exploring Bon Appétit recipes, one referenced sumac. I learned it's a lemony spice and since I love lemon I ordered it immediately. It's definitely interesting. I can get the lemon of it, a little..paprikaish , also? Not sure, i have a pretty bad sinus infection currently so my taste buds are off, but, i can defiantly get the lemon /used to make a "lemonade " of sorts "back in the day." I'm excited to try it, and hope I am adventurous and it doesn't sit in the cabinet! Fast shipping (Prime/snow day weekend) and 2 factory seals on the bottle.
