Comedienne Miranda Hart presents this unconventional workout regime that aims to blend fun and fitness. Hart is joined for the project by guests Patricia Hodge, Sarah Hadland, Tom Ellis and Kirstie Allsopp, while fitness instructor Amelia Watts provides some direction. Alongside new comedy sketches, the programme includes a cardio workout, a higher intensity cardio workout, strengthening exercises for the arms, core, legs and buttocks and a relaxation session. The emphasis is on fun throughout and the workouts are performed to some cheesy pop classics. Review: Hilarious...But she's not messing about! - So, I had the classic dilemma - I wanted to get fitter and lose weight, but gyms are my idea of hell, and I almost felt that I needed to drop a couple of dress sizes before I could step foot in an exercise class...But I love Miranda, so I thought I'd give this a go (it doesn't come with maracas, just so you know). It is brilliant! The comedy sketches in between each section are just what you'd expect from Miranda (I tend to skip these when I'm doing the workout, but they're worth a watch before or after), and her commentary throughout each workout is fantastic - she says exactly what you're thinking, and makes you feel like a normal person for being red, sweaty and out of breath! And trust me, you will be - this is a bona fide exercise DVD, which really does get your pulse racing and your muscles working! There are different levels of intensity, so you can push yourself as hard as you want - I'm starting with the low intensity (following what Miranda does), and I'm already seeing and feeling the benefit! The truly beautiful thing about this DVD is that afterwards, you forget the sweat and the ache and the effort, and you just remember smiling and waving maracas around to some epic tunes (seriously, the soundtrack is immense!), which is why I am motivated to keep doing this DVD regularly (it all comes flooding back to me once about I'm 10 minutes in, but by then I've started!). I seriously can't recommend Maracattack highly enough - if you're thinking about it, then go for it! Review: if you like Mrianda's TV show this DVD is a must have - I'll start this review by saying that whilst I can sit and watch the Miranda TV show I'm not a massive fan but I bought this for my daughter who is. That said, this is a funny feature length spin off from the TV show. As you can tell, Miranda is making her own fitness DVD. The concept of that is funny to think about because Miranda and fitness don't go hand in hand and this, I guess, is written by the same team that write the TV show because it has the same look and feel. It has the regular cast from the show too. The DVD does have a real fitness DVD too which I haven't seen but heard my daughter laughing all the way through when she watched. Apparently it is Miranda, in her own ungainly style, doing an exercise routine. The DVD also has some separate clips too. This is a fitness DVD of sorts and if laughter gets you fit and makes you lose weight then I'd say this is a winner. I think this is available on DVD only too so it's a must have for any Miranda fan, my daughter (and Wife) absolutely love it.

It's "SO" Miranda!
I received this as a birthday present and I've watched it twice now. The first time round I found the comedy sketches hilarious and typical Miranda style. The exercise is just that! Exercise! She states that it's for people who don't like to do "normal" exercise and therefore will be more fun and enjoyable. The first time I completed the exercise I did it all at once and hated it! (After all, it IS aerobics and I'm one of those people who hate aerobics!) However, the second time I completed it I took more advice from Miranda herself and became a bit more free doing "free style" as she calls it and ended up having a right old Google. Instead of looking at it as an exercise DVD I took more notice of the music and watched Miranda and found I did quite a lot of "freestyle" which actually meant I was still exercising but having a laugh at the same time.... Which was exactly Miranda's aim. I also did it in two parts - the cardio bit one day and the toning bits the next time which for me was much more doable. As for making me fitter/lose weight... Yes I can imagine it will be much easier as it really is so much more fun than standard aerobics DVDs... and I actually lost 2lbs this week after making no changes except doing the whole dvd twice. :-)

Brilliant, funny and fantastic music!
Love it. My new favourite workout DVD. The workout out is fun, easy to follow and over before you know it because you're enjoying it so time flies! Miranda's commentary is hilarious and even if you don't know her or her show you'd still find this amusing. It has a couple of little comedy interludes so you can catch your breath for a minute or 2, and there are different sections so you can choose what you're in the mood for. The best part is the music! Most workouts have mind numbing lift music in the background but this has classic hits like Abba, eye of the tiger, Billy Joel and the Grease & Dirty dancing soundtracks. Brilliant!

Actually a pretty decent workout - don't buy if you're just expecting a comedy DVD.
I bought this as a present for myself, thinking it would be a bit of a giggle and not really expecting the exercises to be massively effective. However it's actually a really good all round workout. The 20 minute cardio had me sweating (and laughing!) and was much less punishing on the joints than a lot of other exercises. The other workouts (core, upper body etc), are well-rounded and effective and allow you to make it as tough or as easy as you like depending on fitness level. Having thought it was a novelty DVD I'm actually looking forward to making it part of my daily regime. Even my gym-bunny husband gave it the thumbs up and I wouldn't be surprised to come home and catch him playing with my maracas. As it very much were....

Love it
I love Miranda Hart, and not to keen on exercise videos as I never keep them up, I thought lets give this one a go. Well I ordered my maracas and away I went. I have done this nearly everyday for over a month, that is a record for me, I have a drawer with exercise videos that seemed like a good idea at the time. It's such a fun way to keep fit and I love the way Miranda says "freestyle now if you want", and also all the silly horse trots and hops etc. I really like the instructor, she's really good. I'm still on Miranda's low impact level, as she says you get better over time as you get fitter. I've lost 16 pounds since, both because of this dvd and healthy eating, the dvd spurs me to eat healthier and I do feel good within myself.

For Miranda-lovers
It looked interesting and funny, so I got it for my sister, who has never commented! I stand by my impression, though.
