Taking it out of the box you can feel the weight right away. I felt more secure and happy with my purchase because of that. Fits great for my door. One thing to keep in mind these are meant to give you a few extra seconds to react to a break in if your first line of defense (locks / dead bolt fail) which can help save your life and lives of your family. They are not a full block from entry. Enough force and these can break. However are a great alternative for the door does not have a dead bolt to add a second layer of defense or if you watch a third layer since you already have lock/dead bolt

I bought it specifically because it was advertised as reaching to 52 inches... my front door has double deadbolts and a handle on the inside and outside above the deadbolts. Had this reached 52 inches at the V in it, it would have reached the handle, but it doesn't reach the handle, just like every other security bar on Amazon. So if you want one with extra reach, this is NOT it. Just know that the 52" is to the top of the piece that slides underneath the doorknob and NOT the actual groove in the V. That one inch has made all the difference for me, and as I said, I will use it with a standard doorknob door so I have not wasted my money; I told myself when ordering it if this proved to be the case I'd still have extra security for my bedroom, so the money wouldn't be misspent. It will be nice if I get an intruder in my house and I can fortify my bedroom door while I dial 9-1-1, but it will NOT give me the front door security that I was trying to obtain, even on its most expanded setting. For the fact it's not as advertised, I have docked this security bar ONE star. On the positive side, it seems to be made of a firm degree of steel, and the pin that comes with it does go all the way through to help lock the expansion firmly in place. The rubber foot on the bottom grips well on my Berber carpet, and I am totally delighted with its sturdiness when I slide it under a doorknob and try to pull the door towards me while in my master bedroom. It will definitely help me to sleep better at night.

I bought these for my mom who lives in an apt. She loves it and feels safe and secure. My mom gave one to her neighbor, now they both have peace of mind. Since they both have had people wiggling their door knobs. The security bars are very easy to use. Sturdy and a great price.
