Quick easy sharpening
These should be provided with every chainsaw. It is an excellent tool and very easy to use compared to separate flat and round files.

It was the right tool for the job

Expensive
Works well- takes most of the skill and judgement out of sharpening chain. Has stayed effective through first 5-6 chain sharpenings. It is very "unclear" why so expensive, as there is very little to it - just some simple files and plastic ends.

Simple, quick, accurate and sharpens really well
Have used single files for many years which did a good job but this Stihl 2 in 1 is without better, more accurate and manages depth gauge all at the same time and is quicker too. The chain cuts just that bit better too so have bought two of these files in different sizes for my two chainsaws. Yes they cost a lot compared to a single file but they will last for ages.

Makes sharpening your chainsaw a pleasure
After using chainsaws for over 15 years, I’ve tried just about everything to get a decent edge: freehand filing, guides of all types, dremel power tools and machine sharpening. Nothing comes close to the speed and accuracy of this device. In part it’s because of the excellent quality files Stihl includes, but mainly because it’s supremely easy to use. Four or five stokes puts a razor-like edge to your chain, and files down the risers gently but perfectly. Ensure you buy the right size and watch the how-to-use videos on YouTube (oddly, Stihl’s is useless). Finally the price: it’s not cheap, but if you do a lot of sawing (and you really should sharpen after every session) it soon pays for itself in terms of time saved.

Excellent piece of kit.
Brilliant bit of kit. My Husqvarna chainsaw gets some heavy use and I have tried all sorts of different ways of sharpening the chains. I just couldn’t seem to get good results with a hand file, no matter how hard I tried, and I even bought an electric jig, but still wasn’t impressed. However, as soon as I unwrapped the Stihl file holder, it took me 5 minutes to sharpen the chain and I was off! Big chips coming off the wood. The other bonus is that the file in the holder tackles the depth gauge at the same time as sharpening the teeth. A really good, simple piece of kit.

I was skeptical. It does a great job.
