Clarefontaine Pastelmat is a wonderful surface to work on. It takes many layers of pastel without becoming “muddy”. The paper is easy to remove from the pad and has glassine in between the pages. I’m not a professional pastel artist but this paper will make you feel like one!

I haven’t used this too much but I really like it. Nice colors and beautiful paper.

Clairefontaine Pastelmat is an excellent paper to use with soft pastels. There seems to be less dust, more soft pastel color goes on easier, and stays on the paper without extra pressure. It works wonderfully for layering you colors, too.

I love this paper, it holds tons of layers and is the best for pastels and colored pencils, in my experience. I do wish I didn't cost so much but it definitely takes your art to another level. It feels much smoother than you expected to also. I'll attach my artwork in colored pencils with a pastel background.

As a colored pencil and pastel artist, this is the surface I use for almost all of my drawings. I can even use water-based products with no warpage. A great paper product!

I bought this paper to take some classes in a colored pencil academy by Bonny Snowdon. I had never used Pastelmat before and really enjoyed the outcome. Being left-handed I found the pencils would smear but realized the glassine sheets between the pages work wonders to prevent that going forward. I knocked off one star because I noticed a couple of tiny imperfections in the manufacturing process in the surface of the paper on a couple of sheets.
