Does the phone ever fall off if you just hold it by the grip, are you confident that it will stay on?

No it does not fall off. The magnet is very powerful.

How does this work with video? By holding the grip with the phone in landscape aren't you covering the mic with your hand?

I think the mic is picked up more from the front lower edge which isn’t covered when using the grip (not for me anyway). So it picks sound up just fine.

Can I use this to my Samsung z fold 4

sorry not sure as I'm an iPhone user. Your device need to support magsafe technology in order to work so from my own opinion, this won't work with a samsung phone

When attached does it automatically charge the phone. I would prefer to be able to choose if it charges or not.
