Amazon Basics USB 3.0 Cable, Type USB-A Male to Micro USB, 1.8 m, Black

I wanted a longer usb 3 cable, so I purchased the Amazon basic 1.8m version. I was quite surprised when it arrived as to the hefty weight of the cable itself. You could almost mistake it for a heavy duty hdmi lead. Upon being plugged in, i found it performs really well. transfer speeds went from 25mb per sec to 85mb. (read and write). I was really impressed with the cable quality and its ability to transfer data much quicker than the tiny one supplied with the unit I was using initially. Would recommend this as a good purchase.

Really brilliant wire! Does what it says, it is very sturdy and fits well into my seagate back up plus drive! Wish it was a bit more flexible but I am happy either way, that is works well. It is also a really good length! I would recommend to but this if you’re looking for a good replacement. A job well done amazon basics!

The cable is very sturdy and transfers data much faster, unlike the stock cable provided. Even at the shortest length provided it's quite long, standing at 3 feet long. It works perfectly with my WD Elements 1TB Portable Hard Drive. I'm not put off by the Amazon basics badge however I would've preferred a plain-badged cable. It doesn't fit in my neoprene official case however for use at home it's so much more convenient to have a faster, longer cable. The cable came in minimal packaging which is very nice. Only a small amount of packaging was binned. It appears to be high quality, and whilst I've only owned it for a couple of weeks I've used it almost exclusively. Thanks Amazon! This was my first Prime purchase, and I don't regret it.

I've tried several different makers cables for my external drives, and there's always been some problem or other crop up, causing either slow data transfer, noise, or BSOD's in some cases. These are by far the best I've tried thus far. The thicker cable means no noise, and you can put them where you want them, and most of the time, they'll stay there. The plug ends are also thicker than the standard, so they tend to sit in the socket better, rather than the flimsy ones that move every time there's a lorry going past. I would recommend these to anyone with more than one external drive, and may need to move or swap them now and again.

I thought I had every type of lead in my box until I needed one of these to connect USB 3 external hard drive, as a temporary measure I had used a USB 2 lead which was painfully slow. This lead worked at full speed and was well made, there is no need to pay a fortune for leads, these are as good as the more expensive ones.

Digital cable reviews are hard to write because the cable either works or it doesn't. It's solid or it's flimsy. That's about it as far as 'interesting and informative' goes, and it's all anybody wants to know anyway apart from the price — and that changes pretty much every day anyway. In this case, the cable works and is solid. It costs what it costs today. Of course, cables can be used for so much more than just connecting devices. Skipping ropes for gnomes, bridles for tiny horses, speed bumps for toy cars, the list goes on. Why not use one of these cables as a washing line? Or use it to tie up larger cables? Or chew it as a particularly bitter liquorice alternative? It's worth thinking about, anyway. If we expand our expectations of what cables can do then eventually cable reviewers will have more to write about, which is good for everybody. By the way, don't actually try to chew this cable. It's not good for your teeth and it genuinely tastes disgusting. Not that I'd know, of course.

Nice sturdy cable providing expected speeds and charging rate with some devices. Good length which was what I wanted primarily. I've had to order another cable from a different source though with a beveled end, to enable my mobile phone to be connected, as the Micro-B housing is much too 'fat' to get to the socket on my phone. I do have a fairly standard (not manufacturers) case on my phone and this cable just won't work. I'm disappointed with that.
