This was an amazing gift to put under the Christmas tree. My daughter absolutely loves it and was excited as soon as she saw it running. It’s simple to set up, works well, and creates a really nice festive atmosphere. For the price, it feels like great value and does exactly what you expect it to do. A lovely Christmas decoration and toy in one. I would definitely recommend it if you’re looking for something special for children at Christmas.

This is an amazing train set!! Extremely pleased with the first purchase of it that I immediately bought another set to expand the track length and add another train onto the track. For the price paid, you just cannot complain at all. I paid £9.99 for each but noticed the price went down to £7.99 at one point. To explain against some of the contradictory/clashing reviews on here: 1) The train tracks are thin plastic and will only be suitable for a flat surface under the tree, i.e. laminated floorboard. You could possibly use this on carpet but then it may not be as efficient. You could press down on the carpet prior to placing the track around the tree. Either way you are paying a small price for a complete train set so minimal room to complain. If you want a versatile train set that will run on all floor terrains then expect to pay for an expensive kit such as the Hornby trains. 2) The train does have constant musical sounds, yes! How to fix this... TIP: Open the train apart using a small screw driver and simply snip off the two red wires leading to the speaker. Since this runs on a relay circuit board, it does not cut the power off if you do this so the train runs for longer (as it is no longer powering the speaker as well as the motor) and you don't have the annoying constant music on. Job time is about 3 minutes to do it. Quick and simple! 3) Some people are saying the train goes off track. No, it does not! It will if you do not align the wheels on correctly to the track but this the same for any train set. If you have done this properly then it will not come off the track at all. It has never come off mine and that goes for two of these trains on the same expanded track. Overall rating: 5* Would I recommend: YES!

overall it looks very nice and my daughter loved it. The price is low so you may expect a lower quality product and this is exactly the case: - it's tricky to set it up correctly, wheels don't slot easily in the track - as soon as you touch it (and if you've bought it for a child it will happen often), it derails - the worst part however is the noise, or better THE NOISE!!! It's incredibly loud. After less then 2 minutes I already regretted the purchase. After 10 minutes of intermittent play (because ofbthe above issues) my hears hurt, it feels like after a night at the night club. I've tried putting something on the speaker to reduce the volume but it is well hidden in the engine so that's not an option. I wouldn't really recommend.

Wow please don’t buy this. Firstly it does look great, but it’s not practical whatsoever. The train shoots off too quick when you turn it on, no delay, that it flys off the tracks onto the floor. We broke ours after the third attempt. Cheap and awful. Great idea if it was actually made well, and wasn’t cheap flimsy plastic. Now we have a tree up with a track that’s difficult to get off and no working train, it’s just there for show.

Super easy to set up. Click tracks together making sure that the joins are completely smooth and the area where you’re laying the track is completely flat and even, insert the batteries into the train, hook the carriages onto the back and away you go! Option to mute the sound is a great feature as it becomes irritating over prolonged periods and you get more life out of the batteries. Suitable for boys and girls, young and old. It’s the type of Christmas decoration that captures the magical part of Christmas. It’s a decoration that’s never going to go out of style, so if you’re like me and you don’t change your decorations with the yearly fashion trends, preferring a more traditional vibe you won’t be disappointed. At just £15 it’s a bargain and an investment piece, guaranteed for years of happy memories and a talking point for the many guests that come through your home at Christmas. It was reliable, ran without a hitch, throughout the entire Christmas period, in our house the 12 days of Christmas, 13th to the 24th and all the way up to the eve of epiphany, 5th Jan. Just brought it back out for its second appearance, put in the batteries and it’s as good as new. In order to safety store the set away year after year, be sure to hang on to the retail packaging because it fits far more snuggly in there, than any storage box packed full of other decorations. An additional tip is Duracell Optimum 100% extra life batteries, they’re without doubt the most cost effective way to use this decoration. If your turning the sound on sporadically here and there that doesn’t require much juice, however silent laps around the track does drain batteries quickly. I was waiting for a Prime subscription delivery of Duracell batteries when my train set originally arrived, so just to get started and test it out I used some Panasonic batteries and they died in less than 48hours. I replaced those with the Duracell as soon as they arrived and they lasted 22 days and still had life beyond that but it was time to pack the train away. I can fully recommend this product on value for money, reliability, functionality, sturdiness and customer satisfaction. I hope you all enjoy yours as much as we have.

Does not attach to my standard 5ft tree, so I put it on the floor around it. Train and carriages are made of the cheapest flimsiest material and do not fit on the track properly, as soon as its switched on they keep flopping over. What an absolute waste of money.
