Good quality but have a professional install it
I luckily purchased this charger before prices went crazy because of Trump's tariffs. It works well and it has a long cable that stays flexible down to -15⁰F. I had it professionally installed and the electrician was impressed with the quality. Be prepared for other expenses such as upgrading your home service amperage, adding a new breaker panel, and labor. Use a certified electrician. It's not a do-it-yourself kind of job.

Super simple. You can do it.
After the removal of two set screws at the bottom, using the enclosed tool, one needs to remove at least one more panel to see what you’re doing. I removed both panels, to get a much better view inside. The first panel is like a viewing window. But the panel that it sits inside of goes all the way out to the top and bottom and left and right of the unit. That gives you complete access to the inside. Either way, once you have the access that you need, you simply have three screws to loosen and put the two positive poles of the 220 to 250 V line and the one ground line into the three correct spots. It couldn’t be more easy. You tighten them down and it is done. He put back in all the little screws for the panels that you removed. It is ready to hang on the wall if you were hardwiring it. I considered hardwiring it dedicated to this unit through the back, which was my original plan. That would take away the wall outlet, which is wired for a welder that I have. By moving the unit up just five more inches than I had planned, I was able to use some of the three-quarter inch 8 gauge wire that was in the wall as a wire for a plug. I simply purchased a 6–50 plug at a local big box store for about $20. Installing that on the end and figuring out where to put it all so that it would all work together, I built a frame within the wall to add half a stud (1.5 x 1.5”) to attach it too. I had originally planned in that first picture of the wood in the wall to use the flat dryer wire that I had obtained which you see in the photo, but the 8 g wire and that wire could not both be put into the clamps for the wires. Now it turns out I never had to chop that up. I was able to do all my wiring with the heavier gauge wire and I’m happy for it. The old wire in the wall must be from the mid 1970s when our house was built. And so the black coloration has faded to gray. Nonetheless, this works perfectly. it was easy to program to run at 10 o’clock at night until the unit is charged. I didn’t even set the time anywhere. It just uses the time off your cell phone. Putting it all back together and putting it on the wall I decided that it would be nice to have a way to hold up the cord off the floor. as you can see, I had some convenient pine lumber to use for that. The video is just a view of what kind of foam it comes packed in which was extremely adequate. This is designed for hardwiring. It has a hole in the back for that, so the wire can come directly into it without coming out into the room at all. They provide a plug to put in that hole if you’re not using that hole. I was surprised that it came with the opening at the bottom and I’m glad it did. Tightening the nut on the outside of that hole squeezes down on the three-quarter inch outside diameter eight gauge wire. That is an extremely expensive type of thing to buy if you have to buy it at the big bucks store because you buy at 25 feet at a time for about $80 or so. It was at least $50 on Amazon. Apparently you get the same unit whether you select that you’re going to use it for hardwiring or whether you’re going to have the plug version which costs significantly more. You just don’t get the plug to go out of the bottom hole if you get the version for hardwiring like I did. Because my garage was already wired for powering the welder, I didn’t have any difficult wiring to mess with. It comes with stickers to put on the double breaker in the breaker box. Another sticker is supposed to be placed on the unit, I put it on the plug instead.

Fantastic Product! I'd buy it again.
This charger is an excellent deal for the money and looks amazing. The instructions were straightforward, and the waterproof box is a great feature. Installation was a breeze, and I'm glad I chose the 50 Amp option. I almost went with the 80 Amp, but I didn't want to overload my already-taxed breaker box. Cord length is great & it can reach either car in my driveway. Charger works well. I especially love the Scheduling feature in the iPhone App so that I can charge when the cost of electricity is at the lowest price of the day. I also participate in a Flex EV Program for my local Energy Service Provider. I was able to get a $50 voucher for charging between midnight & 6AM. Pros: Easy Installation: The setup was incredibly simple. Waterproof Box: Provides added protection and peace of mind. Efficient Charging: My 212 kWh battery charges 30% in just 5.5 hours! Scheduling: Allows me to save money! Only 2 Cons: Charging Handle Clip: The plastic clip at the top of the charging handle broke after 4 months. The charger still worked, but I had to be careful when connecting it to my car. However, customer support was outstanding! I contacted them via the chat feature on my iPhone app, and they sent a replacement part within 2 days. Electrical Code Compatibility: This product is made in Canada, and the electrical codes differ from those in the US. To ensure safety and compliance with local codes, I upgraded my breaker to 70 Amp and used 4/3 gauge wire to prevent overheating. Although the connectors inside the charger unit were too small for a 4/3 hard-wiring install my electrician was able to get the wires connected after some time, it was worth the effort for safety and future upgrade potential. Overall, this level 2 charger works excellent, and it's impressive to see it deliver such a high amount of energy from a home setup!

Simple, Reliable Home Charging
I had this installed by an electrician when I bought my first EV and have it mounted in my garage. It has worked terrific from day one. I do not really need the app features since my car already provides that information, but it is nice that it can notify you when charging starts and stops. Setup was straightforward, and once installed, it has been completely reliable. The unit looks good, the cable length is generous, and the cord has a nice balance. It is not too stiff and not flimsy. The connector is easy to hang back up when not in use. I have had it for about a year and a half and plug in nearly every time I park in the garage, with zero issues. Simple, reliable, and exactly what I want from a home charger.

Charger is great but I need a new electrician!
We purchased our first electric vehicle and received a rebate to install a Level 2 charger at our home. As an auto tech, I've used Autel's diagnostic scan tools and equipment extensively at my job and always thought they made a good product at an excellent price. So naturally, I went with them for our first EV charger as well. I installed the unit myself on the outside of our garage, then called my electrician to run the wiring. I'm a qualified auto tech, but I'm no residential electrician, and with up to 50A flowing at 240V from this thing, I didn't want to risk making a simple mistake that could turn deadly. Installing the unit itself was a snap. It comes with a robust bracket that screws straight into a stud from the interior or exterior wall. It then simply slides into the bracket and is locked in place with a security Torx bolt at the bottom. Took me longer to pull out the drill and get the correct bit then it took to bolt the charger to my garage. Very simple. My electrician wired it in, and unfortunately, no dice. Upon connecting the charger to phone app, I received an alert message stating "MAINS UNDERVOLTAGE ERROR". My electrician (of course) insisted the unit must be faulty and refused to do any further checks until I called Autel Customer Support. I called Autel and spoke with the customer support rep for over an hour. He was very helpful, checking the unit remotely via the web app and assisting me in diagnosing the unit. At the end of the call, after confirming that the correct wire size was used (it was) and the correct breaker was installed (it was) it was determined that the unit must indeed be faulty. They immediately escalated my case and prepared to ship me a new unit completely free of charge. Being an auto tech, however, I couldn't shake the "MAINS UNDERVOLTAGE" error it was displaying. It just seemed to be more likely that something had gone wrong with the wiring install. I powered off the breaker, removed the charger's front cover, then powered the breaker back on and measured the voltage at the charger: only 120V. What the heck. I moved over to the breaker panel and removed the cover (after shutting off the main) and immediately discovered that my electrician had not, in fact, wired the breaker correctly as he so adamantly stated. Moving one of the wires from the neutral to the secondary hot provided the correct 240V and the unit immediately began working normally. After this debacle, I set the charger to charge our 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 6 77kWh at the cheapest rate (between midnight and 4AM for our area) and sure enough, it charged our car up at the set time overnight in a little over 2 hours with no issues whatsoever. Will absolutely be using Autel again, as I always have. Won't be using that electrician again, though.

Don’t count on their customer support or 50A of charging speed….
What a trial with this charger! I went with this charger so we could charge at the maximum level allowed by our vehicle. It was installed by a licensed electrician who has installed other chargers for us - that part went beautifully. But immediately we started having issues with car charging. The first time we went to use it with a 2022 Polestar 2 (accepts up to a 48A charge and automatically will adjust to 48 if the charge is higher from a level 2 charger), it would start and stop about every minute. Call #1 to tech support, we went through he typical what is the serial number, what size wire did the electrician use, what size circuit breaker, is the internal switch set to support 50A charging, is the car set to accept 48A charging, is the app set to allow 50A charging. We had it set up correctly, and the tech on the phone told me it was the car causing the problem, not the charger. So the decision was made to reduce the internal switch to 48A and set the app at 48A. This allowed for the car to start charging, but we never made it over 16A nor would it charge for longer than ten minutes. The next day, it was connecting and disconnecting about every minute once again. Call #2 to to tech support was going down the same line of questions and answers until partway through the call the tech said he could see that we were having large power fluctuations and that was the problem and that it was “very bad”. We decided the best thing to do was to curtail charging and test the voltage. We have this connected to a 208V panel (Autel’s power spec is 110-240), and also on that panel are several sensitive machines that run just fine without issue. We had the electrician come back (more $$) and test the line, and we were getting a voltage drop over a few seconds that went from 208 to 203 volts, and that coincided with the car ramping up to 16A charging and then disconnecting. Call #3 - the tech went through all of the same questions, told me the line voltage looked fine, and that he would have to elevate this to someone else and he would be back with me within 24 hours. I said, “It’s Friday, don’t you mean Monday?”. I was told no, within 24 hours. Over 48 hours later, a message was left on my voicemail that said that we have done everything correctly, and there was nothing more they could figure and I was all set….uh, what??? The next day, I decided to try an experiment. The dial in the charger doesn’t have any detects, it’s tiny and hard to turn with a small screwdriver, and a bit flimsy so my thought was maybe the arrow wasn’t pointing exactly correctly (hint, hint, our other chargers are Grizzl-E chargers and have dip switches to set the amps - you guys might want to do the same). I set it to the 40A position, and sure enough, that worked. My car is now charging at 38-39A. The one star review is to reflect the poor customer service, and lack of ability for this charger to deliver the 48A I paid extra for. If I had known it would only deliver 40A anyway, I would have ordered another Grizzl-E. We elected to keep it since it would have cost us more money to return it to Amazon and have another one installed by our electrician than to just eat what we paid over the cost of a 40A charger to get 48A charging. I don’t see us buying an Autel charger ever again, since the three techs had no idea how to help us with our issues and changed stories each time. I will say they were friendly and picked up quickly each call. It also does have a decent app for monitoring the charge session.

There is a lot to like, but two important caveats
Update 2: it is now possible to use the charger locally. Use the app to add a custom OCPP server. I set one up on home assistant and now have control over availability, charging and current. There are also 10 sensors made available. Update: They eventually sent me a replacement. Although it took a little bit of nudging, the procedure was really good. They sent the replacement before I returned the defective charger, so there was little downtime. Although I needed an electrician to install, it was easy to swap it out myself. Just TURN OFF POWER AT THE BREAKER, confirm that there is no power with a detecteo, and read the instructions for installation. Now everything works great. After a few months of usage, I am really happy with the unit. Since I am using the car charger to control the details, the lack of API on the charger is not much of a limitation. The card security is important, since the charger is outside. So far, weather has been no issue at all. The features are good, and my car reports full amperage (48A). I could connect the app to the charger fine via Bluetooth, and lots of info and control is available. Also, the feature to require a card to turn it on is nice, since the charger is outside. It is holding up well in the weather for the last few weeks. Original review, with a bit more info: The electricians had no difficulty installing it in my brick wall, and installation was cheaper than online research led me to believe. Now the caveats: it sees no WiFi SSIDs. Not mine, and none of the dozen or so of my neighbor's that I can see in my phone. Clearly not working. I spoke with a technician who said that there should be an update soon to fix. We will see. This might be a problem if you wanted some of those features, like charging others to use your charger. It wasn't really for me because of the second annoying caveat. The other caveat is that it does NOT use OCPP api, like the advertisement here says. That means that I cannot integrate it with Home Assistant, which I wanted to do cloud free. Annoying. That means that I cannot optimize charging with solar panels, or lower electricity prices.

Works great even with WiFi
The charger is great. Works perfectly. There are reports that the device does not work properly over WiFi so I asked the technician who installed it to put a network cable at an extra expense. I have yet to connect it to the switch/router so it is still over WiFi and it works perfectly even though the closest WiFi repeater is more than 10 metres away (my phone shows one bar reception there) and still works fine and have yet to lose the connection even once. Setup was really easy and the app is great. I have been able to activate the use of cards with RFID (my library card works!!) and have activated different cards from my family members. Although it some times takes several attempts to activate while using RFID cards, it works beautifully and you do not need to have people install the app. Having said so, it is quite simple to activate the app and invite other people to share your charger. I waited for the charger to be on sale and I got a great deal. More so the case because my local utility reimbursed me half of the cost!!
