desertcart.com: [2000 HD Arcade Games] GroGou Arcade Video Game Console 2000 Retro Games Pandoras Box 6 Arcade Machine Double Arcade Joystick Built in Speaker : Everything Else Review: It's an awesome product with some flaws (that mostly apply to all other similar game units like this one). - Rating: I originally gave this item 3/5 stars but I want to update that rating to 4/5 based upon how easy the seller is to work with and how helpful they have been to date. There are issues and flaws with this unit but for the most part, everything works as I was expecting it to work. The unit design and cable management inside the case are both top notch. There are flaws with this unit but I don't believe they are better or worse than other units and this distribute has been very responsive and helpful so far. My Current Situation: I received a unit in early January after the distorter had disabled the favorites list, due to a flaw that could crash the unit in some cases when the favorites list has been used. I indicated I was unhappy about this, especially considering that the list of games is completely random and not sorted alphabetically. The distribute has responded to my inquires and has told me they are shipping me a new motherboard I can replace myself that will both bring back a properly working favorites list and also now has the list of games sorted alphabetically. I'll update this review when I receive the new motherboard and get to test it. Positive: I have made several inquires to the unit distribute (GroGou) and they have always responded to me within one to eight hours. They've been very helpful and responsive. Negative (possibly all units of like this): The male power connection appears to be too long and perhaps a little smaller in diameter that is needed to properly fit into the female reciprocal. On my unit the male plug does not fully insert into the female connection on the unit. I have read people bring up this issue on two competing products from other disturbers with no positive indication that anyone else s arcade system has a better power connection fit. I don't believe it's an issue at all as long as the unit is not moved around while in use. Since this seems to be a problem with all of these arcade units as far as I can tell, I don't believe it should be looked at as a negative against this one distribute but it seems like something that could be easily corrected if matching power supplies and female reciprocals could be used. Negative (applies to all game systems like this): There is no audio normalization in place of any kind. All of the 999 games have very different db levels. Some games you can barely hear and you need to turn the volume up for. Some games sound like the db level is jacked up to the extreme and you can get in a rush trying to turn the volume down. This is a problem with all of these units and should not be held against this one unit or distrubter. Positive: Case construction, appearance and internal cleanness interior cable management, etc.) are all top notch. They did a very good job in these areas. The buttons and sticks feel plenty good to me. The aren't the best but good enough and they all worked on my unit. Positive: Physically the sticks and buttons all worked flawlessly and feel great. For controls layouts for the games, it's a mixed bag. With many games it's perfect. But ,with some games things just aren't right. For example, on Centipede (875) was made to play on a roller ball in the middle of the control board. On this unit you use the stick and if you are right handed you have to stand with your right shoulder aligned with the stick and the whole left side of your body outside the unit control board (it just feels weird). Other games that have this same effect include Frogger where you feel like you body is shifted way over to the left to get your right arm in line with the stick which was originally more centered in the arcade cabinets. This would be the case for any unit like this and nothing I'd hold against GroGou. Negative (Game Issue I've Found): On both Xevious (887) and Super Mario Brothers (189) the continue feature does not work. The games just start over at the beginning although oddly on Super Mario Brothers you will still have the stars you had before (even though you go back to 1x1 and your score resets to 0). In my opinion, Super Mario and Xevious are unplayable because you can't continue on either. USB Ports: Don't work for me. Only one of the USB ports is suppose to work with a PS3 controller but I could never get a PS3 controller to work with this unit. I might be doing something wrong here and I really don't care about using PS3 controllers anyway. If I wanted to use PS3 controllers to play classic games, I'd just buy classic games off the PlayStation Store. To me, the point of this unit is to feel like you are at an arcade touching real arcade style controls. HDMI: HDMI audio and video work for me but on some monitors and TV's there are issues (black bars on 2 or more outside edges, etc). It's not perfect for some reason - takes tweaking. VGA: I had no issues getting the right screen size on any monitor or TV (of course that leaves you with only the headphone jack and built in speakers as a sound option). Display Ratio of Games: There is no way to choose if you want the games to be stretched or not if using a wide screen monitor. Most games are designed to stretch the screen to the widescreen resolution of your TV or Monitor. I really don't like that I don't have a choice though. These games have very low resolutions and stretching the games out to widescreen mode can greatly exaggeration the distortion. I no longer own a square monitor. If you were buying classic arcade games off the Play Station store, they are mostly designed to work inside framed windows at their original aspect rations. I wish these game unit would do the same thing. This is a problem with all game boards of this type. You won't do any better with this issue by choosing a different unit. It's a common issue and not something wrong with this one unit. Review: I can't stop playing! Addicted! - If you are reading my review then you are probably have some questions about this gaming system. I also had the same concerns but I decided to take a chance on the system. OMG! I am so glad that I did. This gaming is system is amazing! It brings back so many memories! I am 55 years old and when I was younger in the 80’s, I would pay 25 cents a try at the arcades to play these games. We have an XBOX One, Play Station 4 and my kids play them. I really do not play these new consoles. But I cannot put this console down and play it for hours a night. My wife thinks I am crazy! I never have to put a quarter in and just press the “coin” button and add extra plays. This console has so many games that I used to play and I want to play them all. How to use: How to navigate thru menu: Move joystick left and right to flip thru the pages of games. Move Joystick up and down to scroll thru each game. How to select game: Scrolling up and down using joystick, stop when the game you want to play is highlighted. You will see the game playing on the screen on the right. The “A” button is 1st of the 6 buttons. So you have two rows of 3 buttons, so if you counted the top row 1, 2, 3. Then the “A” button is the “1” button. How to shoot, fire, run, jump etc.: For most of the games, the shoot or fire button is the “A” button or the first of the 6 buttons. For most of the games, I have found the top three buttons are your fire, jump or other functions. The street fighter games use combination buttons and that is what the other buttons are used for. Sound: Sound plays thru the console and thru HDMI cable. So my sound plays thru my home theater system. I turn off the console volume using the dial on the back of the console. So you can choose to use the console’s sound if you need to keep the volume down. Very nice feature. Changing games: I have not been able to figure out how to close out a game and get back to the menu to play a different game. I have tried multiple buttons combinations including holding down the start and coin buttons. I have simply turning off the console using the power button on the back. If I figure out how to escape a game and play a different game without rebooting the console, I will update my review. Games” OMG, it has Dig Dug, several Metal Slugs, Donkey Kong, Galaga, a Pac Man copycat, several street fighters, Super Mario brothers, Marvel vs Capcom. Summary: This console is very addicting! Two player play is tons of fun but I play it single more and have a hard time putting it down. It comes with a long HDMI cable. I already had a 15 foot cable that I used. I used an extension cord for the console so that I could reach sit on my couch. Sharing these old games with my kids was fun. Old, simple 8 bit games are just as fun as new games in my opinion. I am really happy with this console.

cool party favor that needs to add a couple features and games in future
very nostalgic gaming product that is an easy plug and play device. Only down falls to other Pandora 5s is this doesn't have button mapping, no save and load feature mid game, and games pic size is to big and cannot be set(adjust pic size on tv doesn't fix it either. Missing some key arcade games such as MK 2 and up, Ghostbusters, and NBA Jam series, these would help on the selling point of this. Still a solid piece of machinery and fun for all ages, except the games that have naked girl pics in them which I don't mind and fun to show friends.
