RiteAV 1 Port Cat6 Ethernet Wall Plate Jack Female-Female - Flat [Gray/Gray]

This was a great purchase for me. Sometime back, I had an electrician run a CAT 5 cable from one room of our house to another, and I terminated each end with RJ-45 connectors. So the cable extended from the wall in each room through a beige wall plate with a small hole in it. I lived with that for a few years, because it was good enough. Recently, we repainted one of the rooms and had to remove all of the switch and outlet covers while at the same time replacing the beige switches, outlets, and covers with white ones. It had occurred to me to buy a jack panel where I could cut off the RJ-45 connector and re-terminate the cable onto it so I would have a nice jack on the wall instead of the cable coming out of it. As I was looking for that, I found this. Not that re-terminating a cable is difficult, but this wall plate was a perfect solution and required no wiring work at all. I just plugged the existing RJ-45 connector into the back and mounted the wall plate in place of the old one. No muss, no fuss; done. Also, if you are wondering if this CAT 6 wall plate works with CAT 5 cable, the answer is "Yes."

Beautiful Decorative Color

Very easy product to use. Each wire inside the ethernet cable is just pushed into place using a very small flathead screwdriver. Here is what I wish I realized prior to doing the wring.... these plugs at T568A, while the rest of my house is T568B. T568A and T568B are the wiring standards that define the pinout (connection order) for terminating twisted-pair network cable in eight-pin modular connector plugs and jacks. If you follow the color scheme on the back of the plug you will get T568A, which is fine if the rest of your house it T568A. If the rest of your house is T568B then you will need to switch the color scheme around to make it work.

Really nice product. So glad I found this. I had to run a Cat5e cable through my attic and down a wall and connect to a router. This gives a very clean look for this. I just snapped in to the back of this wall plate the end of the cable I had run though the wall. Then I run a short Cat5e cable from the front of this wall plate to the router. Love it. Highly recommended.

Works as advertised. Well constructed.The down side for me is the shade of gray. It is a little too light for my needs.

Did what I needed and works perfectly.Only thing is this one does not come with the wall mount.I bought this from someone else and it came with a wall mount.Would have bought more but they were out.So if you get this you will need to buy the wall mount seperately.But works great!Connected a modem from one side of the wall to a router on the opposite side.Good idea if you dont want cords running through your door ways.

Like has already been said, not that it is not easy to create your own connections but this makes like so much easier. Tip, if you are running several drop lines and making several connections using these plate connectors, it is a good idea to test all your lines and plates by connecting them all first to your computer and running a speed test. It is much easier to diagnose an issues with a cable or wall plate when they are not buried in-between the walls are screwed into place. I did not have any issues with these wall pates by the way and I would rebuy them again if need be.
