Easy to use and very effective in protecting wood from moisture damage. This is the second purchase of this product that I’ve made. First bottle was used to coat the maple countertops that we made and installed in our kitchen. They have been installed for a couple of years now and they still look great. I was especially concerned about the area around the under mount sink, but absolutely no water damage even with a messy dishwasher like me. Used it on the bathroom sink countertop as well. Great product when you follow the directions and put their finish coat on top!

We used Waterlox with the satin finish on our butcher block countertops, and we couldn’t be happier with the results! The application was straightforward, and the oil-based formula really brought out the warmth and grain of the wood. The satin finish has just the right amount of sheen not too glossy, not too flat and gives our counters a beautiful, natural look. Most importantly, it feels durable and provides the peace of mind that our countertops are well-protected against everyday use. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to protect and enhance butcher block!tion was straightforward, and the oil-based formula really brought out the warmth and grain of the wood. I followed the Waterlox videos exactly and used two coats of this sealant before applying three coats of WaterloxH20. It took a good two weeks to finish as I did the underside of the counter for a pantry first, then let that dry well, and did the same thing on the top. All this was done before the counter was installed. I did a test run on a piece of my wood first as suggested, and applied a stain. I used it on a two inch thick douglas fir wood which was a ton less expensive than butcher block. As warned, the final product was a bit darker than I had planned, but it did turn out beautiful. I do not know yet about the durability or water resistance., but I don't plan on having much water on it, except to clean it. I debated between the satin and the matte. Was worried the matte would be too dull, but it has a nice, rich looking low sheen to it.

I guess this stuff is necessary when using any other product from Waterlox except the Original Finish/Sealer. I have tried it a few times on bowls and other turnings. It takes AT LEAST 24 hours to dry but I would recommend 36 to 48 hours because it stays tacky a long time. I would not recommend this for woodturning. By the time one applies this product, and then adds the other Waterlox products on top of it, allows dry times for each coat or layer, and then allows everything to cure, you are looking at 4 to 6 weeks to get a useful piece. The ambering is a personal choice and preference, but for me, too much. I am a woodturner most of the time so I will pass on the Waterlox line in the future. I do like their small sample sizes. This allowed me to experiment with their entire product line without spending $200 and finding out I could not or did not care for it. I don't see from the marketing information, why one needs this product wihen the Original Waterlox Sealer/Finish is still available.
