Great EDC heavy duty knife opens nice. Great locking function.

The pocket clip for this knife is cheaply made and breaks very easily, and there is no where on Amazon to get a replacement. The knife itself is good, just wish the clip was as well made as the knife.

I am no expert on pocket knifes, but after Allison Barrie's commentary on Fox's Fire Power regarding this knife (which I agreed with )and watching various YouTube (which I didn't agree with..). This knife is excellent. You have to work it for it to loosen up, but I find it a fantastic knife. The blade is forged in different metals and after reading up on that, I choose the S30V variant which comes in fine edge only over the 420HC. Well-balanced, and not hard to look at either. I have no problem with the clip, but if I did, I could remove it. I like the weight and feel as well. not too lite and not too heavy. The "US-Assist" is crisp and clean. Well done Gerber !!!

Great knife. Glass filled nylon feels good and solid (not hollow like the griptillion). The locking mechanism is unique but it's very strong and the safety button just adds to its strength. Ball bearings are smooth and the blade swings nicely. The spring assist is apart of the spine and cannot be removed but it functions well. The blade steel is a plus but the edge was imperfect and will need to be resharpened. This clip also is a negative, it does not add to the quality of the knife. Other than that, this knife will be an excellent EDC and a welcome addition to my collection.

Only thing wrong that stood out to me with this knife is after it's in your pocket a while the safety button seems to push in so every time you take it out it would be wise to check that safety switch.

I bought this knife to replace an excellent custom Benchmade assisted opening knife, so I didn't expect a lot from this US-Assist Gerber. But I did expect it to open with one hand, with an advertised "flick of the thumb" as did my Benchmade. This US-Assist Gerber was half the price of my Benchmade and so was prepared to manage expectations. I wasn't prepared to be unable to open the Gerber with one hand. First, there were no instructions accompanying the knife. Ok then it should be fairly intuitive. After fumbling around a couple of minutes the lock was sorted. I was still unable to open the knife easily and not at all with only one hand. The location of the thumb stud is too close to the pivot of the blade offering no mechanical advantage to deploying it. With great effort and some separation of my thumbnail from my thumb, the blade opened in one in five attempts. But this required holding the knife with both hands while pushing on the thumb stud. Once the blade is forced open a bit the spring assist kicks in and it snaps open. Overall the construction seems good though the edge is a little rough. The safety and blade operate smoothly. The edge wasn't tested because it would be a waste of time. Even though the construction seemed ok for the money, you have to be able to OPEN a folding knife, and this one with one hand. That was just not possible with this copy so it gets one star. Maybe another would work properly, but that this one did not is a bellwether of potentially poor performance down the road and possibly of the line. Lesson learned, this US-Assist Gerber is going back. My terrific Benchmade is no longer available so I have no idea what other knife to try.
