I don't know why I waited so long to replace the struts on the back window of Tommy Jones (my TJ) but... I guess I finally got bonked on the head by the glass for the last time. It was probably the hundredth time, because the struts have been blown for a couple years now, but I'm not always a smart man and had never replaced them before. All you need is a flat head screw driver and someone or something to help you keep the window raised all the way up during install. It was dead easy and, while I can't speak for longevity yet, here in the first few months (probably 5 or 6 times opened) they're doing the job well. The price was right, they fit my 97 TJ perfectly, work great and they were simple to install. At this price if they last a year or two, I'm satisfied. UPDATE: Almost a year later and they're still working great. I definitely recommend.

Good struts. The old ones wouldn’t open the glass all the way and let it droop back down. Easy to install. Just pry off the little clips on each end of the old one on one side (install one at a time). Pull the old one off and clean the little ball on each end and put a small amount of lube on it such as silicon grease or even vasoline. Leave the strap on the new one and make sure the strut is the same direction as the old one. You don’t need to remove the clip on the new one. Simply push on one end till it locks into place. You’ll hear it click. Cut the strap and the rod will extend. You can push it in slightly and pop it on the other end. Repeat on the opposite side.

I installed these rear window shocks/ struts on my rear window hatch on my Jeep TJ. Rear glass doesn’t drop down and hit you in the forehead anymore ! Well worth the 20.00 to avoid a headache or a concussion !!

Installed July 2021 on my 2004 Jeep Wrangler TJ Rubicon. Very easy to install - my install time was 5 mins- only because I made a video - otherwise it’s a 3 min install. Check out my video and like the review. Will post updates in 6 months on durability. Day 1 update: They work perfectly. The glass lifts with zero effort and stays fully extended. It is significantly stiffer when closing, but that it expected with new shocks. I’d expect them to loosen some, but not much. On day 1- I highly recommended these.
