Extremely dynamic, HiVi Swans D200
The D200 offers a well-balanced sound signature with a slight emphasis on the midrange, making it ideal for vocal-heavy music and genres that require a clear, detailed midrange. Bass The bass performance of the D200 is very impressive, especially considering its relatively compact size. The 5.25-inch driver delivers tight very punchy bass that is both deep and well-controlled. It doesn't overpower the rest of the frequency range, which is a common issue with many bass-heavy speakers. Instead, the bass integrates smoothly with the midrange and treble, providing a cohesive listening experience. Whether you're listening to electronic music, jazz, or classical, the bass is articulate and responsive, adding depth and richness to the music without muddying the overall sound. Midrange The midrange is where the D200 truly shines. Vocals are rendered with exceptional clarity and detail, making them sound lifelike and engaging, even holographic, many instances. Instruments such as guitars, pianos, and strings also benefit from the D200's excellent midrange performance, coming across as natural and full-bodied. The slight emphasis on the midrange adds warmth to the sound, which makes the D200 particularly well-suited for genres like rock, folk, and acoustic music. Make no mistake this speaker is quite overwhelmingly dynamic, what ever music tracks you choose to play. One of the standout features of the HiVi Swans D200 is its ability to create a realistic and immersive soundstage. The speakers excel at imaging, they can accurately placeing instruments and vocals within the stereo field. When listening to well-recorded music, the D200 creates a sense of depth and space that makes it feel like you're in the room with the performers. This is particularly impressive given the speaker's size and price point. The HiVi Swans D200 are amazing sound quality and value for money, I am quite addicted to listening to them.

These are underated, underpriced speakers! They compete with $500 bookshelf stereo/studio monitors.
In February of 2024, I bought, HiVi-Swans D1100 Computer Speakers, and I was really surprised on how good they sounded. And yet, I returned them for only one reason: the blue-tooth feature was rather dicey and to bypass to aux was a pain in the a**! So, I read up on the HiVi-Swans D100 Computer Speakers and +95% of the reviews, in and outside of Amazon, were impressive. I ordered the speakers... Swan speakers are well-built and pretty shocking on how good they sound for their price point. I let them break in for about three weeks: +72 hours of listening. The sound? They sound better than their little cousin (D1100) in all phases. It takes a little bit of time to get used to the ribbon speaker as compared to the ones on the D1100. For a the D100's to produce the sound they do, especially with a 4" driver for low mid-range and bass, is a little mind boggling. The mid-range and upper mids are clean, defined, spacious and very detailed without being harsh. The lower mid-range and bass? Detailed, clean, uncolored and not boomy whatsoever. I have owned very expensive speakers; in excess of $10,000, so I know what sounds good and what doesn't. Do these speakers compete with those? Uh-no, and they aren't met too either! I am really impressed how dynamic they are, and yeah - they can get loud without distortion. The bass, to me, is deep enough. If someone wants lower, then get a subwoofer! But, for bookshelf speakers, they are just as good as ones that are in the $400 to $500 range. I primarily use them for video streaming on my Samsung tv. They are fantastic when watching a movie. I, once in awhile, will listen to music with the speakers on YouTube. Impressive as well. But, I primarily listen to music with my Kali Audio IN-5 5-inch Powered Studio Monitors. I am not, nor should anyone compare the D100 to the Kali's. Why? The Kali's are $700 a pair, are studio monitors and compete, and rather easily so, with monitor speakers in the $1,000 range. But, for their size, the D100's are almost as accurate. So, if I ever decide to pay another pair of active speakers, and I am trying to find an excuse to do so - for my teenage son, I will be buying HiVi-Swans. They are that good.

Intersection of application and expectation- A+
Two days into burn-in and the smile keeps getting bigger. Fantastic reproduction and balance. At this price point, I would have to say that my expectations were blown away. Even after reading the limited number of reviews out there that signaled the prowess of the engineering. Now, I can't claim to be a true audiophile. One must have F.U. money to step into that world, of which I do not. As such, I am sure that in terms of "scary money" there are better, and a 5-star rating is leaving something on the table so to speak. That said, if used for their designed purpose, one would find excellence in packaging and a simplicity devoid of fluff. Very straight forward user-unit interface in connection process with multiple options that integrate and resonate in what you need rather than what marketing can sell. These are quality units with a focus on sound quality. The bass is there and in small to midsize theaters of operation, very satisfying. To that end the balance of tonal presentation leaves the listener enjoying rather than adjusting. The key being the application and expectation intersection. If you have ever flown into Kona Hawaii and expected to see the jungles Hilo, you might be let down. If there was one detractor that took a star off the board, it was the length of provided interconnect cable. One speaker contains the amp and the other is fed through a connecting cable. Even in a small room configuration, the desktop application is all this cable can support. The fact that the control unit has a switch that changes presentation between desktop and speaker stand placement, it authenticates speaker stand application by design with a more than subtle increase in soundstage when configured that way. Unfortunately, an extension cable is needed to really accomplish this without the potential for someone or something ruining your day by tripping on the connection cable sending your new pride and joy crashing to the ground. As one will notice, I haven't gotten into the specifics of the sound in detail. One reason is the fact that I don't play audiophile on tv and the other is that it is too soon to do so. At two days into the burn-in period, the sound is wonderful and surprisingly full bodied. Almost jaw-dropping for the size. But in all fairness, the detail should only get better as burn-in maturity is gained. Hating to offer up an expectation, even if it didn't, I would remain convinced that one would be hard pressed to find better at this price-point. Worthy of benchmark status-

Great sounding speakers and great customer service!
These speakers sound amazing for the price. Every bit as good as speakers priced 2x or more. They sounded very good right out of the box but after the 100 hour break-in (as specified in the manual) - WOW! Now on to HiVi Swan's customer service - another WOW! The cable that connects the speakers was too short for me. I have them on stands and spread a little over 6 feet apart on each side of my entertainment cabinet. But the cable was not long enough to stretch across on the floor behind the cabinet and clamp up the back of the speaker stands (to hide the cable). So I contacted Swan Speaker's Customer Service right away to ask if they had an extension cable and got a next day response. The answer was "no" but they asked how long I needed it. I told them 4.5 meters and they sent me a 5 meter. They only charged $8.00 for the cable + $32.00 shipping via DHL from China, which was more than fair. Excellent quality cable too! Has gold plated aircraft type (screw on) connectors. DHL delivered it to my door 3 days later. So I couldn't be happier. I listen to all kinds of music with much of my all time favorites being the more complex progressive rock and jazz of the 60's and 70's and I'm hearing things in these old recordings that I have never heard before. Great for classical music too. The clarity and detail are excellent. Good flat response across the full range with the high's out of the tweeters clean and bright but not irritatingly sharp (as so many other speakers can be). The over-all value for the dollar here is unheard of! If you are looking for a new set of powered bookshelf type speakers then give Swan's a try. If you don't like them you can always return them to Amazon but I'm pretty sure.......YOU WILL NOT DO THAT!

Desk, bookshelf, and now my surround sound!
These speakers are the best I have ever heard--especially compared to speakers similar in appearance. I've used them as bookshelf, studio monitors, and now I've pulled out my $2500 Bo$e 900--pounds of worthless--surround sound--s as two dimensional with no soundstage at all--and replaced it with the D300 as the front, and D200 as the surround rear. No additional bass or subwoofer needed, the soundstage is as expansive as the engineers recorded and designed the audio to be, the bass is rich, I do not need to EQ--that must be what the DSP is doing because they fit perfectly in every room and setup I have used without the need to make any adjustments other than speaker placement. Just straight up get them, you'll love them. Get two if they're on sale.

They sound like a portable Bluetooth speaker. So much dsp !
Over EQ-ed. Just like a boombox. Very processed, lots of compression, all boom and sizzle. Can't listen for long. Tiring personality with a big hole in the midrange. Makes most recordings sound like a parody of themselves. But they are, wicked, loud.

Warm, smooth sound
Very good balance and staging. The ability to sound good LOUD and soft. I stream contemporary jazz on it and its right at home. I couldn't be happier with Swan. Update: The manual says give it 100 hrs and the sound improves. I find that to be true. The sound gets fuller and bass seems deeper. The mids and high more prominent. 4 month Update: I have to be honest, after hemming and hawing about it I found these D200 to have too much bass for TV listening and the bass is undefined. Not clear. They are not giving you enough tone control. + and - 3db is not enough. They are better for music playing but the bass is still unclear and limited. The highs are smooth, almost too smooth with no attack. It may be my old ears. I went back to my old system...Edifier 1850db and a OSD DualX8 Sub and am very happy. I will sell the Swans.
