Really happy with this product and the results. My photos are before applying satin varnish. I was on the fence between dark stain or white paint and I’m happy I went with the stain. It is very rich looking and it was super easy. I finished a lot of railing in one day. It does take 2-3 days to dry before you can varnish. Java

You control how sheer you want it by if you want you wipe or how long you wait before you wipe and its buildable as any stain but every layer is so even and amazing I did a lot of research on stains after picking up what I thought was a dark stain buying a terrible brand from a hardware store pic below cropped the brand out. The stain on the inside didn't match the pic of dark stain on the out. Then I bought black stain since its the only other darker stain by that brand my gosh no! The formula was so thick on the black wasn't anything like the other formula but it's from the same line, it came out streaky. so I just don't trust that brand. I wanted the color of this dark java color originally but failing to find it and I ruined the table in the process. Two different "dark" colors messed the table up but this stain by general finishes came to the rescue I didn't have to strip it down or even sand to bare wood. I kept the ugly ruined stain color under (it was red and then a black on top just a mess) it covered it all up in one coat ill put a second coat of java and add more pics later. Best color ever. I included the before as reference please dont hate I just got wrong color TWICE and the formula of this brand just was terrible. I included photos took show how well it covers *uodated photos of final result* Hides imperfections very well. I didn't sajd very good and you can barely tell

My husband passed away and I couldn't stand to look at our bedroom furniture anymore. Finances being an issue right now, I decided to give the light wood a completely different look and started researching the best way to make that change. I stumbled on this stain and after reading the reviews, thought I would give it a try. I lightly sanded one night stand top and did a comparison of sanded versus not sanded. I actually preferred the non sanded because then the previous color came through randomly with streaks as it dried. The sanded top took the color without anything coming through. I used an old sock method and at first didn't have anything under it. I learned after the first piece that was a mistake and 3 days later still have black cuticles. WEAR PLASTIC GLOVES WHEN APPLYING!! With the 1 pint can I did 2 coats on a nightstand, large 6 drawer dresser and queen sized bed with enough left over to do another piece if I wanted or to keep for touch ups in the future. I love it ... You need 24 hours drying time between the coats. I thought it was dry at 12 hours by touch but when I started to put a second coat on it dragged in certain places and almost removed what I had done previously. I will say it dries to a pretty flat but beautiful color. I'm going to look for a light gloss varnish to give it a little shine now that it is the way I like it.
