Sturdy cage for small medium dog or a medium to large cat
I just received this Amazon Basics Durable, Foldable Metal Wire Dog Crate with Tray, Single Door, 30 x 19 x 21 in, Black.I am a senior female, and it took me maybe three minutes to set it up. It literally is just unfolding of the crate And then hooking one metal piece over another. In the directions, it had a picture of a screwdriver and a wrench, but I never even had to go get those. The directions are just kind of useless pictures but just unfolding it actually set it up. I got this for my 9 pound cat so he can sit on the porch and be happy and safe. The crate is much larger than I imagined. That’s my fault because I didn’t measure. I probably could have gone smaller, but it is sturdy and simple. And I’m glad I purchased it.Now my cat can safely sit on the porch and watch the birds. I will give him 24 hours to lie in the cage and play around with it before I move it to the porch. And I like that I can fold it down in the winter when we do not need it.There is a divider piece that I tried to make a shelf out of it if you wanted to go up a little bit, but it is not made to work that way, so it barely fits. Amazon should actually re-tool this and think about making the divider so that it does fit to make a shelf. If I decide later on, I will probably get strong zip ties and put it in as a shelf if I think it’s needed.Right now, my cat is sitting in it like he is the king. The only caution I would have is that the plastic handle just barely clips on and it’s mostly for when you’re carrying it to put it away unfolded. I would never carry it out with the handle.

Sturdy, easy 3point door opener handle, HUGE.
The media could not be loaded. This crate is surprisingly sturdy. At this price point, you really can’t go wrong. Now, if you have a super aggressive chewer / Houdini that’s determined to get out of a cage - they probably will. This is simply a crate, and while sturdy, any industriously determined escape artist could feasibly get their mouth around the wires and bend them enough to get themselves free. However, if you have a less determined dog, or one that has been trained from little on to appreciate and tolerate crating from time to time this should be great. Again, any crate should not be used for extensive periods of time for any dog, unless directly supervised (as in potty training at night with owners home).I purchased this as I dog sit for a little labradoodle that needs a crate when we step out for a few hours, as she irritates our dogs and my shepherd will correct her. She is used to being crated when her owners have to step out with out her, so instead of lugging their giant crate around we opted to buy this one. We got it big enough to fit my 3 year old German Shepherd (American Line West German Shepherd) in case we ever needed it for some reason (though he’s a service dog so that isn’t likely). He’s approximately 80# and a bit small for his breed due to a leg issue. This fits the bill! It was a bit difficult to untangle to set up, as the connecting prongs were stuck tight in transit, but once we got that resolved it was up and locked in with a minute or two.The way the doors open, with a handle lever (similar to airline crate doors), is so easy to open and close, and nearly impossible for a dog to figure out how to open (we had a chow chow that figured out how to push back crate latches years ago). This is huge. I fit in there, sitting with my legs straight out sitting up right with a few inches to spare and I’m average height (5’6”). My Shepherd fits in there easily and can stand up and turn around very easily. It is very heavy, and awkward (unless you’re tall), but I was able to carry it upstairs by myself and set it up (I’m not patient enough to wait for my husband if I can figure it out lol). It is heavy and unwieldy though, so don’t be surprised. For what we need, a temporary crate situation for a guest dog, and possibly if we had to crate our GSD somewhere, this is worth the price. It’s constructed well (as any wire crate) and we have no issues in workmanship. Pops up pretty easy once you untangle the wire connection prongs. It’s not the easiest to port around simply due to its size, but you can fold it down, and store it under a bed or up right in the back of a closet easily… I just wouldn’t think you will want to do that daily. lol.All in all, this was a great buy for our needs. With care it should last us a long time to come.

My Dog’s Temporary Airbnb
This crate is nothing fancy. It is not winning any design awards, and it is not sitting in my living room where I have nicer looking crates that do not scream “industrial storage unit.” But when it comes to travel, this thing shines. It folds up flat, pops open in minutes, and is tough enough to survive the back of the car, a weekend trip, or my dog deciding to test the bars like a cartoon prisoner. The tray is easy to slide out and hose down when accidents happen, and the divider panel is handy if you are dealing with a growing pup.Is it ugly? Absolutely. But I do not need a traveling crate to look like a piece of modern furniture. I need it to keep my dog safe, contained, and comfortable when we are on the go. And for that, it does the job perfectly.Bottom line: This is the Motel 6 of dog crates. Nothing special, no frills, but dependable, affordable, and always there when you need it.

Excellent quality, safe, & our 4 dogs LOVE this kennel
My husband & I have used several kennels over the years for our dogs. This specific Amazon Basics kennel has the best craftsmanship & quality, is roomy (we always buy the next size up per the size charts so our dogs are comfortable & can sprawl out- this also ensures we have the room to add a pillow to the bottom, & 2 throw sized blankets). These kennels LAST, we've had them several years & travel with them- & now we added an additional one as our pup is now an adult. If you're traveling, they're super easy to fold & set up quickly. We highly recommend these & have zero issues or concerns with them

Good crate for medium sized dogs
This is a great crate for our 25 lb mini American Shepard. It is easy to set up and take down. I would size up for bigger dogs but for a medium sized dog it provides plenty of room for our dog to move around and get comfy. It is sturdy and the locking mechanism is designed for easy use. My dog hasn’t tried to break out so we haven’t tested the strength of the door yet and hopefully never will. It is easy to clean too if there are treat crumbs or water that spills in it. The pan slides out the front so you can clean it out and put back in easily.
