Technology is no replacement for knowledge when things go wrong.
I recently read an article about the Canadian Sniper known as Wali and his experiences in Ukraine. He admits he was ineffective even with a "top shelf" sniper rifle because he didn't have a range finder. This book shows you how to use your scope and the math used to do your own range finding if your electronics fail. I plan on practicing the techniques learned in this book to be prepared when my range finder fails or I forget to bring a replacement battery. Learn the math.

Very useful
This is a great book. I know scopes sound like they should be easy to use. Look through it and shoot, right? Well, there's a lot more to it than that. This book is a great choice for the new shooter. It discusses the parts of the scope, the different styles of reticles, proper mounting of your scope, what the turrets are and what they do, and focal planes. But this is much more than a beginner's guide. It teaches you how to really USE your scope, from making accurate adjustments, to calculating Minutes of Angle (MOA), using your scope as a range finder. He includes the math needed to calculate very precisely the MOA so that you can adjust your windage and elevation very precisely, so that you hit your target on the first shot.I have a lot of shooting experience. And a lot of long distance shooting experience. But I learned quite a bit from this book. It is very thorough and explains the subject very clearly, which is particularly useful when it comes to the math.I would recommend this book to EVERY new shooter who is serious about accuracy (which should be everyone). This is easily one of the best books in my shooting library. And I have a LOT of books.

Just buy it
Excellent book to read. Lots of formulas and practice questions for calculating drop and wind. It’s just a good review and great for someone needing to learn how to use their scope

Small Book
While I have only read part of this book, the information included seems to be thorough and detailed. But it is a 180 page book on average quality paper. Its 1/2" thick, and 6.5" by 9.5". The binding is average quality also. It is way overpriced for $45. No color pages and not to many illustrations. I hope to find out its technically advanced and very informative as I read on. But the price just does not make sense to me. I guess its because its a specialty book the has a limited market.

A true "must have"
This book does an outstanding job explaining all of the "math" needed to become a precision shooter. The material is straight forward and easy to understand if you are a beginner shooter. Skilled marksmen will also enjoy the shooting drills listed in the book. This is an old school guide that will help make you a solid "scope shooter" without the need for laser rangefinders or wind meters. If you are a distance shooter, this book should be in your collection.

Lots of great info presented in a logical sequence!
This book was full of great info and knowledge nuggets to tuck away in the shooters “toolbox”. A recommended read for any one starting out or wanting to brush up on skills used in deployment of current rifle optics.

Very informative
As an iron sights shooter transitioning to scopes, this book was very informative.

Misleading title
Very disappointed, this book should be called the ultimate guide to MOA, it goes into incredible detail about the maths of minute of angle and MRADS but little else. Very poorly illustrated, nothing about mounts very little about mounting scopes, not much about scopes themselves, nothing about night scopes and a lot of "refer to manufacturers instructions". I wish that I could have my money back!

GREAT BOOK , EASY TO READ
Great book with a lot of great tips and info. on stetting up or just upgrading to a MRAD scope from a MOA scope. My only disappointment is book from Amazon was 2 times the price of my local Cabbalas store at $30.00 1/2 price! Could have bought a 2nd copy for my kid for that price!

Good rifle scope book
Speaking as a novice shooter it's a good book. Would have been better if it did not lean so heavily on mixing and converting between imperial and metric measurements. (MOA and MRAD) Would have preferred that the author talk about them separately and let the reader choose between them. Conversions could have been covered in an appendix. Are there scopes that actually don't have turret dials that match their reticles?
