6000mAh Li-Polymer Battery for JBL Charge 2+, Charge Plus, fits JBL MLP912995-2P

This works great in my “JBL Charge 2+” with the factory charge and it was correctly wired to plug right in. I haven’t had a chance to break it in fully, but am optimistic that it has restored my BTS back to near new status again. I do think there may be a couple of different versions of thie Charge 2+ model, as some of the YouTube videos show internals different than mine which may be why some report wires reversed on the connector.

Awesome! Zero complaints. I was initially worried b/c I read reviews about similar batteries having reverse polarity but no, this battery is a perfect replacement. I have a JBL charge 2 and almost threw it away when the battery died (no sound from unit and battery indicator always low). My speakers work like new! Yay! Tips for replacing: -Get a small screwdriver set. -Use a flat head to gently pry across the bottom mesh, lift and pull off the mesh covers on both sides. -Using a phillips head, unscrew the white battery cover, 2 screws. Remove the white battery cover. The cover is attached with dbl sided tape. It takes some gentle pulling and prying along the edges to remove it. (Note the side with the wires on the battery). - Unscrew the subwoofer bumper on one end, 4 screws. (the end where battery wires connect). - Unscrew the subwoofer cover, 4 screws. (Under it is the terminal connecting the battery). - Disconnect the battery terminal and take out the battery. - Pick off the black tacky stuff and roll it into a ball. (Reapply it when you put the new battery in. It fills the space where the battery wires enter the unit.) -Install new battery. Good time to test the unit before reassembling. I estimate about 15min to install. Have fun.

Planned obsolescence is morally bankrupt, but that's par for the course. The replacement wasn't difficult, just a little tedious. There's absolutely NO REASON why JBL couldn't have designed this unit such that the battery was easier to replace (in fact, given the way it was designed, they would have SAVED money during manufacturing as such a design would have saved on labor costs), but of course, instead of selling new batteries, they'd rather make more profit off of selling you an entirely new device. Why? There's nothing wrong with it other than the battery reaching the end of its life, and I don't like the form factor of the new Charge 5 as it's much larger than the Charge 2+. Anyhow, glad this battery exists. I can now get another 9 years or so out of my Charge 2. BTW, there's been some issues with other batteries having an incorrect polarity, this one was wired correctly right out of the box.

The connector is WIRED BACKWARDS!!!!

Works great but for the Charge 2+ you do have to swap the red and black wires. Easy to do by lifting up the small white tab and pulling the pin out.

This battery came with reversed polarity also. It could be that JBL has there’s set up reversed. I am sure this battery is used for things other than JBL speakers. I did get it to work by reversing the black and red wires. This is done by using a small screw driver to carefully bend back the small plastic tabs on the connection and pulling back the wire at the same time. I look forward to finally being able to use my JBL Charge 2 again without worrying about the battery going dead so quickly. Remember to follow the operating instructions to get best performance. Get 2-3 complete charge and discharge cycles first. Then try to avoid fully charging and fully discharging the battery. Unplug charging cable after charging is complete to avoid overcharging.

PROS: -Battery holds charge CONS: - You'll need to learn to solder to actually be able to use this battery. So, like others have said... WARNING: THE WIRES ARE BACKWARDS! Yeah, whoever made this obviously wasn't paying close enough attention to match the original, so DON'T PLUG THIS IN WITHOUT FIRST FIXING THIS ISSUE. This automatically looses the 2 stars for me. They even warn users to check the orientation of the red-black wires in the description.... ugh. Since I have the know-how & equipment to fix this, I went ahead and ordered the battery, knowing I'd have a soldering project ahead.... I'll leave it 3 stars since the battery itself works well (so far). Maybe they'll fix this issue eventually? I happen to have a soldering kit at home, so I cut the end off this new battery, and removed the connector from the original battery, and spliced them together such that the connector faces the correct direction. The red-red-white-black-black wires should match the original connector if you do this. If I was more awake, I would've taken pictures, sorry guys. GUIDE to replace said battery (written for JBL Charge 2+): 1) Remove BACK cover plate, starting from the bottom with a precision flat-tip screw driver, it should just pop off/ slide out of the notches it lives in if you go slowly. Start from the bottom corner, work your way around. 2) Remove the 5 phillips-head screws holding the black "box-like" thing in 3) Carefully pull/ wedge the black box out. It will have a wire connector leading to the interal circuit board, so just pull it out then fold it back/ set it down. 4) Remove the single phillips-head screw on the backside of this. 5) Remove black cover-plate to reveal battery. 6) Carefully pull out the battery connector from the internal circuit board. It should have a white end. PAY ATTENTION TO WHICH WAY IT WENT IN & THE WIRE ORDER. Looking inside, mine was red-red-white-black-black from left to right, assuming that you're looking into the back, with the speaker oriented upside down, with the power button side towards your left. 7) You'll notice that your new battery, if you hold the connector at the same orientation, has the wires reversed :( And yes, I did test this with a multi-meter, since this is a DC battery, red-to-black was a positive voltage for me on both batteries, but the connector won't fit in the pin slot as-is; the wiring would have it fit the originally positive end to the negative, and visa-versa. 7a) If you have the equipment & know-how, it's time to cut & splice the old connector to the new battery. Youtube or phone a friend/ poll the audience if you need soldering tutorials. 7b) The old end and new battery leads should end up matching colors at the end of this; new battery red = positive, black = negative, just like the old battery. 8) YAY, you've hopefully spliced the connector. Did you test connectivity before shrink-wrapping or electrical taping your splice joints? 9) Reverse process steps 6 through 1 to re-assemble your speaker. 10) Celebrate! You did it! You're speaker should now last longer than 20 minutes on a charge.

Got it for my jbl charge 2 and changed it out it works great even better than new i feel
