the half liter option is fantastic
So far so good, only had it a few days but it filters my tap water real good (honestly I have not great tap water) have considered using this in place of buying water bottles since getting it. Might update after I've actually used it hiking

Functional and effective
I cannot say enough good things about this product. I prefer the 16 versus the 24 ounce as it fits into water bottle holder on the side of my backpack easier. Have in my EDC and hurricane evacuation kits, and carry with me camping and hiking regularly. Can use as a simple water bottle or if needed for order purification. Have used on remote out west on elk hunts and throughout the Southeast without any issue.

Good filter bottle
Filter is awesome. Rubberized bottom texture does make it difficult to push into adjusting cup holders but you know it won’t slide on flat surfaces. With the volume was a little larger.

Great Bottle for Travel
Took the bottle while traveling in India. It works really well. It's hard to press down though. Make sure you put the bottle on a stable surface. I found it was easier to press if the surface was lower than waist level as I had more leverage.

Reliable, Quick, but not foolproof.
I am on my second Ultrapress. My first one lasted about a year and a half and in that time I went through about 3 filter replacements for it What I love about this smaller model is it holds 16oz of water, which is a very convenient amount for filling other vessels, like canteens and bottles that are 1 Quart, as it just takes 2 pumps to fill it, with nothing left over. With the Geopress, it would still take 2 pumps. but you would have some amount of water sitting around inside the pump with nowhere to go, since it's 24oz, a somewhat awkward amount. The reason I suspect my first one failed was because the rubber seal around the outside of the fill tank wore down to the point that water from outside cup part during pumping would get past seal and started contaminating the water in the tank. I can't exactly explain how this would be the case, but the reason I believe this is because pumping with my first Ultrapress compared to this new one has almost no resistance, and water starts leaking out of the sides when pumping with the old one, where with the new one the seal is super tight, and no water comes out during pumping Not sure how this could be fixed in a revised design, perhaps some sort of replaceable rubber seal on the fill tank? I don't claim to be an engineer, but it would be nice if there was some way to design around this one small flaw, to extend the lifetime of these potentially life saving devices. Other than that, it does a great job filtering everything out of water, including bad tastes, my stomach is rather sensitive to algae tastes that even come up in some bottled water, and this pump deals with that no problem.

I'm never buying bottled water.
Took it on an 8-day cruise and used it on our excursions in Mexico and Belize. I tried it using water from the tap in my cabin, and it tasted like the $5.00 bottled water. I also used the tap water in Mexico and Belize same results. The missus and I did not get sick at all, no smells in the water. Pressing the water through the filter does take a little effort but I'm never buying bottled water again.
