🛡️ Defend your AC like a pro—corrosion doesn’t stand a chance!
The Zinc Anode 7/8" Corrosion Grenade is a precision-engineered sacrificial anode designed to prevent galvanic corrosion in air conditioning systems. By introducing a softer zinc metal, it protects aluminum fins from electrolysis damage caused by dissimilar metals and salt air exposure. Easy to install and maintenance-free, it provides continuous, long-lasting defense that extends the life and efficiency of your AC unit, especially in harsh coastal environments.

Hoping it works as advertised
So far so good. I’ve heard a lot about these grenades, so I had to try it.

Zinc protects other metals from electrolysis.
Zinc protects other metals from electrolysis. I knew about this when I owned boats. We would protect our expensive metal parts that live underwater from the menace of electrolytic corrosion by attaching zinc pieces to them. Zinc is the least noble metal, and will be the sacrificial recipient of corrosion when dissimilar metals are immersed in water and form a weak battery that creates stray electrical currents. So the aluminum and bronze propellers, outdrives, etc. don't get eaten up. This grenade, which is just like the zincs we put on the propeller shafts of inboard-powered boats, will likewise protect the expensive aluminum coils and fins on your HVAC system, which is particularly important if the unit is outside in the humidity. Just be sure when installing this to sand the surface of the copper pipe where you're mounting this to leave it bright and shiny for a good clean connection. The grenade separates into two halves, joined by two bolts, for an easy installation.
