Great all rounder
I wanted something in a Mora that could be just as at home in the kitchen drawer in the sheath dry and clean as out in the field. The Kansbol fits the bill like a glove. It came RAZOR sharp. The thinner point allows for precision cuts , working with meat or vegetables, plenty strong enough for light batoning making kindling and shavings. Easy to sharpen on a flat ceramic stone or hone with a DMT rat tail fine red diamond rod by eye, or round ceramic rod. Stays in the sheath, its not just going to fall out on you. Any negative would fall to the color, IMHO it needs to be a brighter safety orange in case of loss for field work, but I have paracord, no deal breaker there. Finish was a tad rough but hey its a Mora. I mean you are going to hone it, clean it , polish it if need be with something right? Semichrome, Flitz, RENWAX...wash it, dry it, food grade mineral oil, wipe down and store. I like it better than the Companions (I know right? Blasphemy) Great tool for the price. There's a red one out now, when it hits Amazon I may pick it up too!

The Best Morakniv
Let me preface this by saying I am a huge Morakniv fangirl! They are my favorite workhorse knives, I use my Companion and my Garberg for everything inside the house and out in the bush when I hike the mountains! Moraknivs are made with pride and it shows in the product. They're made of average steel, but it's decent metal and really properly heat treated to get the most out of the tool. I think the plastic handles are very comfortable, ergonomic, and durable, and I love how lightweight the knives are as I have arthritis and any reduction in fatigue factor is a plus for me. I have had several Companions in my life and love them, they're the best for food prep and light carving work! You CAN abuse your Companion, but I am gentle with mine. Then I got the Garberg, and it is a beast! But I felt like something was still missing. The Companion is flexible, slender, and wonderfully lightweight to use. The Garberg is extremely thick, it blasts through chunks of wood and anything in its path. I wanted something that was a little of both, something the best of both worlds. The Morakniv Kansbol is that blade! It's a little beefier and bigger than the Companion, so it feels a bit more substantial in your hand, but it's not as thick and heavy as the Garberg, and also, the geometry of the Kansbol blade is extremely unique and effective for what it's born to do. It's a more agile blade, excellent for delicate carving and fine tasks, but it still has enough beef to work larger chunks of wood down. The Kansbol blade has a thicker portion near the handle and it thins out quite dramatically towards the tip of the blade. If you carve wood a lot, you'll understand why those different grinds can be useful. It also came to me razor sharp. That thin tip is absolutely wicked! Kansbol comes with a hard plastic sheath as with other Morakniv and I really like these style sheaths. They click shut securely and the belt loop is good for me. Morakniv does have other options for how to carry their knives, but this basic option is my favorite. By the way, you can strike a ferro rod with the spine of this knife. Just so you know! Actually, for me, if you ask me to choose between the Companion, Kansbol, and Garberg... especially if it was my first Morakniv, I would recommend this Kansbol! You really will not be disappointed. You're getting a very fine tool that will give you many long years of fine service! My Kansbol is the knife I carry everywhere with me. That used to be the Companion, but I think the Kansbol is so awesome and works great for my needs. Garberg is amazing, worth the cost as well; but she is my camp knife, not my everyday carry knife, she is too heavy and thick for some things like cutting food. So whether you've been thinking about getting your first Morakniv, or you're looking to add more of these awesome Moraknivs to your collection, I recommend you to try this one out! I chose the color burnt orange, and it's beautiful in person. I like the green as well but I am saving that color for my fiance's Christmas present! :)

Best budget fixed blade!
If a person could only own one fixed blade, this should be that one; excellent quality, design, and performance at an affordable price.

Maybe the best Mora
I have been EDC this knife for a little over a month now and has been great. Not a supper steel but holds the edge better than most $100 knives I own. Today I just used the Kansbol to skin and quarter an Elk! It preformed great. Perfect for skinning and taking the back straps out! I have skinned thousands of animals in my butchering days and this knife preformed better than most! I don’t usually write reviews, but this knife is this good and I highly recommend it from a professional butcher stand point! I have a hard time thinking of a more perfect knife toe the hunter/ outdoorsman!

Sharp as a butter knife, but still a great knife
Out of the box, the knife was not sharp and had ding marks on the edge mid blade. But o few minutes on the stones and strop, all good and very sharp. Good heft and very comfortable for cutting tasks. It passed a little impromptu carving in the backyard and the spine is very sharp; great for scraping fire steel or to make wood shavings. Very happy with this knife and sheath. Don't worry about it not being sharp when it arrives, you'll eventually have to sharpen it anyway.
