I love it!
I've tried other Line 6 products and have been pleased with them, so I thought I'd give another one a try. This unit is great. It also comes with some excellent software as well. Pod Farm is the software you use to load effects presets and some of them are pretty good. I've loaded them, tweaked them a bit and saved them as my own. There are a lot of effects models, amp models and and cabinets to choose from. I like the fact that it has xlr inputs with a built in phantom power supply. My primary concern was latency. That delay you sometimes have with the sound when running music gear into the PC. Let me tell you, there is basically NONE. No latency whatsoever. You can use a load of effects simultaneously and still have no latency. To be honest, I was skeptical regarding the latency issue. They advertise that there really isn't any and they weren't lying. I hook it up to my laptop and use it with cakewalk Music Creator 6, to have a portable recording setup. It works very well with Cakewalk. Sometimes when you buy things over the Internet that you haven't tried or know someone who has, you can be taking a bit of a risk. This was well worth the risk because it all worked out fine in the end. I'm happy anyway. Hope this review helps.

The perfect training wheels for audio.
It's very much "baby's first audio interface" but there's nothing wrong with that. If you just want to sound good fast and aren't really looking to get into production, this will be all you need. It comes with Line 6's proprietary software "Pod farm" which has every bell and whistle you could possibly imagine for audio production in an easy to use standalone program that processes the signal in real time. I still love this thing for streaming and skype calls since it lets me fix up my microphone sound live and do fun things like make my voice echo or sound like a robot. If you WANT to get into audio production, this is still a very solid foundation. It comes with a functional starter version of EVERY effect and plugin you need and an easy environment in which to learn them. It doesn't really have the best anything though. You WILL grow out of it and want something else the more about audio you learn. DO NOT let that dissuade you if these are your first steps into the audio world. Audio is a very deep very expensive rabbithole and this is a very easy way to get right into it.

Lots of Upgrading- installing -software doesn't work- no help
I would have given them a 5 for this unit. But crazy updating process, registration this and register that. The Monkey 6 upgraded like half dozen times before it didn't tell me there was another upgrade..They couldn't just upgrade to the latest version, had to upgrade from 1.01 to 1.32 or something like that...silly. Unit is great and has many bells and ... Like that it can be linked to Sony Acid Music to record songs. After upgrading, the headphones no longer work. The search on their site doesn't come back with a reply. Looking for someone to email a question to. Online video skips the most important part - getting the unit connected. Still don't have the headphones working. Tried installing the Reason software and won't take the license code from the card attached to the disk. Can only be this number. Now I have to see if I can get a hold of them too.. What a waste of time. Please, can it be any more screwed up? Makes me wonder if this is worth it. I have an amp and doesn't takes days to plug it in and use it. Amazon says there are only 5 units left. I bought this days ago and site still says on 5 left. There is NO help on line and I found a phone number but is only M-F during the time that I work. They most likely will take hours to answer and refer me to the useless, good for nothing web sites that make you run circles and do nothing to help. \ Update 7+17-2011 -> Started up the unit today and tells me there is no driver. Tried starting over from scratch and the line 6 Monkey download froze. Again no help from them. Love their amps and this one is great if it would work!

3 year review is it's a monster device I will ...
3 year review is it's a monster device I will stay this I have a very pro setup nothing cheap here , however it wasn't always this way , if you need a audio interface that will explode your guitars and give you pristine channel inputs for all your tracks and plugins , this is It . The effect in this unit are not lacking even if you only had 50 cabs you could make hundreds with the time , but there are hundreds in her and more buy able options , line 6 is no punk in the guitar game and they are a force bigger company have to compete with . This being said you will get every function you need without having to pay more , run monkey and get your license and drivers/ next updated then your set don't want to use the effects channel or plugin simply activate the proper channel and arm it in your daw once you logged in on monkey use the unit how you need it yes midi and wind controller plug to for you sonic guitarist lol keep rockin

Grunge is BACK! In my bedroom...
I bought this to record guitar tracks for a band I'm in. I've used line 6 equipment since my teen years. So, I expected to be able to jump right in. Its been two weeks or so and I'm still trying to figure this thing out. Just playing guitar using the interface works great and sounds decent. However, when listening after I'm faced with, static, and/or crappy tone. Ive tried tinkering with the interface, my recording software, my guitars. Ive even tried plugging my guitar into my amp and running a cable out from my amp and into the POD and not using any of the presets on the POD interface. That seemed to help when recording acoustic songs, but once you hit the distortion, forget it, because it goes right back to sounding like I'm in a 90s grunge band, and NOT a good one. No clarity, just fuzz topped with static. Maybe its me, but for what I'm trying do (simply record 3-4 minutes of one guitar track), it shouldn't be THIS annoying to figure out!

As a guitar player who has wanted the tools to record and expand upon whimsical ideas without breaking the budget, I was recommended this product by a friend who teaches music technology. I have to admit I was a little comprehensive when tearing open the packaging for this item. The box was flimsy and the product looked a lot less sturdy than I imagined. However once I installed the product on my PC (Windows XP), the fun began! The first program I installed was the "Pod Farm" - an excellent interactive guitar modelling piece of software. I was able to create some amazing sounds for my guitar rather quickly. The interface was extremely intuitive, and there are some great components to work with. Having said that, a few of the components were "greyed out" in a futile attempt to lure me into upgrading the software. I then had a mess about with "Riffworks" - admittedly the program did crash within minutes of using. Having said that, I personally won't use this program. The only good feature I could see with this program is the automatic drum machine. This program would be useful for someone who wanted to jam along to a beat, but as for recording a guitar to it, I wouldn't recommend it. I then installed "Reason" which I have used before. As a bundled product it seems quite pointless - it's better to use this with a MIDI instrument such as a keyboard. There is little if any value to be gained if you are only using a guitar. Last (and definitely not least) I installed "Ableton Lite" which is a great piece of recording software. After reading through the tutorials I was able to record multi-tracked pieces of music in no time at all. The UX2 really came into light here - recording layers of guitars and vocals was very straight-forward, and you are provided with an array of after-effects that can be applied to the relevant tracks. These effects really add functionality to the sounds you can create in Pod Farm. Drum beats and synth tracks that usually would require MIDI input can be inputted using your keyboard and then edited after using the MIDI editor. In summary: Cons - some of the software provided is not really relevant, and can be tempramental - i.e. Reason and Riffworks in that order. Pros - for the money paid you will get an excellent recording program and a great guitar effects unit. The Riffworks CD makes a handy drink coaster, and from prior experience, Reason takes on a life of it's own when interacting with a keyboard/synth. Highly recommended for any guitarist that wishes to record and expand upon flashes of inspiration in the confines of a low budget, without expecting the high-end features of software like Pro Tools and Guitar Rig for example.
