I purchased this Gilmour double female brass swivel connector to connect a standard water hose to an automatic watering bowl for animals outside. It was easy to use and tighten even with thread tape, and I like that the brass is durable. I didn't find any flaws with this product and would recommend it to anyone. 5/5 stars. This Gilmore fitting popped up as an Amazon recommendation when I was looking at small floats that I could use in a watering system for my rabbits and one for my chickens. Im super glad it did because it made connecting a water hose really easy. Would buy again.

Some reviews said that it leaked. It's really quite well constructed, with one minor deficiency, which is that the flange which the hose washer presses on isn't as wide as it could be -- it would be better if it went to a larger outside diameter. Even with the small flange, a plain old style garden hose washer, softish rubber, flat on both sides, will work fine. But one of those modern molded hard rubber (probably plastic) washers, with faces that are not smooth, can press on the flange without sealing to it. So given that a softish rubber flat hose washer will work fine, I do not understand why the manufacturer chooses to ship this adapter with one of the molded hard rubber washers which will leak. If you have this adapter and want it to not leak, just use one of those old style softish rubber flat hose washers. Other possible reasons for leaking might be that someone is trying to put the garden hose female on a 3/4 inch pipe thread, which is incompatible -- but it will usually work if you put in a double hose washer, so that the end of the pipe will contact the washer, before the incompatible thread jams and won't go any further. Note that this trick of putting a male 3/4 pipe thread into a garden hose female is not dependable, and should be used only outdoors for garden hose connections, where a failure will only result in better watering of your garden, not in flooding out your house. One last note. The male female thread on the other side of the adapter is a tapered pipe thread. It says so on the label of the adapter, but it is not specified in the description on amazon.com.

I needed a way to connect a garden hose to an automatic waterer i bought for my livestock. Why they didn't make it so that the garden hose could attach directly to the waterer is beyond me, but this worked like a charm to solve my problem. I did put teflon tape on the threaded plastic piece for the waterer, but it hasn't leaked at all. I like the fact that it is brass instead of plastic, it should last longer than the waterer itself I would guess.

Leaked all around fitting with very few uses. Will have to replace.

It wasn't what I was looking for. Which was female garden hose to female garden hose. This product is female garden hose (ght) to 1/2 MPT female.

Great looking product did not fit the product I was trying to attach it. So I tried to cancel order and return it. They dont want it, but i want a refund and there is no way to do it. Need to work on that one.
