A Fish out of Water (Beginner Books(r)) Hardcover – Picture Book, 1 July 1992

My 5yr old and 3 yr old love this story.It's not too long ( bedtime, that matters!! ) and has ENORMOUS scope for reader ( mum!! ) to really take on character voices, and have fun reading - the dialogue is short, and enjoyable to read. A bellowing policeman, a snooty firman, a hesitant..guilty boy and a quirky Mr Carp add up to a fun read for all!!!My 3 year old can finish the sentences, I read two words, he does the rest. These books have such a life to them, and children pick up so quickly on such fast paced well written reads. It's soooo rich in grammar, vocabulary.....FUN for little children. Great stuff.By the way, unlike many parents who choose to read their children this story, I'm a rookie to this book - you don't need to have read it as a kid to want to share it!!! But, there's always the chance the nippers you read it to may well hold it in their hearts till adulthood!!!!!!

Exciting for a child right from the beginning and builds up to amusing but threatened disaster until the problem is solved by the pet shop owner and Firemen!!

This book is from my childhood and I felt the need to own it again. It's a great story and one that really stuck with me. Fun illustrations & a short and sweet story with a happy ending and a little moral too.Didn't dissapoint.Quality of book was very good - even though it had been used. Epic find.

I remember reading this as a kid & absolutely enjoy reading this to my son now. Great illustrations that bring the story to life that goes well with the pace of the narrative. 3-7 year olds will enjoy.

I read this to my 4 children and have just given it to my great grandchildren ( 2 boys 4and 7. They all loved it.

We bought this, knowing what a wonderful book it was, as my wife had used it in her Reception class experience, before she retired. We bought one for one pair of grandsons. Now this will be for the other pair and will serve as one of their Christmas presents.

Super service and the book brings back memories of my childhood. Enjoyed it alot.

First read this book to my own children 25 years ago and found it in a box in the loft. My own copy had lost some pages so was delighted to find a copy for my granddaughter who gets me to read it to her every time i see her.
