I read an article interviewing Marion Woodman and she described the Black Madonna as an emanation of the dark goddess. So I dove into this book! What I most enjoyed was the in depth exploration of the 'Great Mother' and how she arises shapeshifting into many forms within the consciousness of humanity. I feel like there is so much yet to be explored on this topic and this book really just gives you an introduction to the energy and manifestation of the dark goddess as she emerges in our lives. The authors use dreams as a way to explore how the energy of the dark goddess emerges. It is a little dense to read, but so rich with insight, an invaluable resource on the topic! Review: Book bound incorrectly - Bought the new condition paperback from desertcart.com twice in June 2021. Disappointed to find that the last signature in both copies of this otherwise wonderful book was bound upside down. I wish desertcart would be more responsive to reports of defective products after accepting a return. I plan to buy a used hardcover copy elsewhere. The star rating is for the content not the defective copies. A printer's error and desertcart's slackness shouldn't diminish the authors' efforts.

One of the best books out on Transformation
I have loved every minute of this book. I'm still trying to absorb and identify with the transformational processes described in this book. Woodman does an excellent job of explaining the abstract images the mind provides us in dreams, as a way of understanding our past and our path to transformation and healing. I plan on giving this book to every friend who is ready to dig deep and work on healing the past.

helping integrate a lost portion of the human psyche
This book was recommended by a mentor and it gave me an entirely new way to look at the world. Woodman also provided examples on how to integrate this information into everyday life. It was thought provoking and gave interesting case studies to better help the reader understand the point the author was trying to make.

Marion Woodman is one of the world's great teachers
Marion Woodman is one of the world's great teachers. Sometimes her writing is a little disorganized but she's always very worth reading & listening to.

This Has Been Helpful to Me at a Difficult Crossroads
I won't pretend to understand jungian theory on anything but a visceral level. However, this book resonated for me, somewhere deep, as someone who is trying to care, in whatever way I can, for a mother who was not well-equipped, thanks to her own childhood, for the job while at the same time trying to be a better mother to my son. I thought I was doing okay, but I kept having these nightmares of trying to crawl through rubble and lava - upheaval and destruction - looking for my child, for my family, knowing that my home was gone. Like, every other night. So, a friend of mine recommended this book. I need to read it again, because I am not sure I understood a word of it, but I loved it. I have come to see these dreams as images of creativity, as well as destruction, the searching as productive, the fire as something good. In particular, the discussions of perfectionism felt relevant, especially as they pertained to primal bonds. Not all of it worked for me. Some seemed like magic-speak, even hooey, but maybe we are magic. Or are genetically disposed to believe in magic. I hope to understand better on re-reading.

Book was delivered in a timely fashion and in good condition. I love this book, the emerging the Dark Goddess and release of false realities and conditioning due to patriarchy. I think it’s a brilliant book that calls to men and women alike to live in their true authenticity. Men and women are not seen as separate or in a hierarchical way that includes domination or victimhood but in a way that complements healthy masculine and feminine energies.

This book has been eye-opening! It resonates so deeply with me and has helped me understand my own complexes and projections and I believe it’s the beginning in my journey to individuation. I have only read Man and His Symbols by Carl Jung before this so my knowledge is only just forming on the subject - there were parts that I didn’t quite grasp because of the language, I have no previous experience with psychology, but please stick with it if you’re serious about embracing all sides of yourself, removing yourself from the chains of a patriarchal society, finding the Self and becoming whole. There were parts at the beginning that I didn’t grasp, but as the book went on a found that the information started to go in better. Looking forward to reading more books by Marion.

i solely read about the author in a different book focusing on jungian dream studies and i got intrigued. the title of this book sparked my interest the most. it is so so so profoundly eyeopening, don’t let the „eso“ vibe distract you, it focuses on the historical source of the evolution of viewpoints on the feminine in religious, historical and societal terms and how it evolved over the years and into todays world. also there are so many dream case studies in which the author digs deeper into the neglected parts within ourselves. this is an eyeopener for men and women regardless

There's a lot in this book - depth, reflection and wisdom. It's very special.
