Great Value GoPro Pole, Especially In Saltwater
I started my search for a GoPro pole knowing that I wanted one that offered aluminum construction so I didn't have to worry about rust via saltwater, aluminum camera mount/thumbscrew for added strength compared to ones that are made out of plastic, and a wrist tether for added piece of mind. I love my Sandmarc Metal Edition Pole! It's design and build quality is top notch, I agree that it could be used as self defense weapon if needed. The hand grip and wrist tether are very helpful while SCUBA diving. The pole will fill with water once it's submerged, but the water quickly is purged out of the opening where the wrist tether is mounted on the bottom of the hand grip when the pole is completely retracted to it's shortest height. This enables you to unscrew the top aluminum camera mount after your finished SCUBA diving and flush the inside of the pole with freshwater to get ride of any saltwater. The angle of the aluminum camera mount allows you to mount your GoPro at both selfie and a forward facing. In either direction, the mount allows the user to fine tune the desired camera angle by hand without loosening the pole's thumbscrew. The almost 90 degree angle while forward facing at any pole length combined with the built-in display on the Hero 4 Silver is very helpful while SCUBA diving (see my attached photo for example). Like other reviewers have stated, the loosening/tightening clamps only need to be turned a few rotations for the pole to be extended or collapsed. You will feel a slight pressure release when you have begun to loosen the clamps, then the pole pieces will then move freely. The SP Gadgets Smart Mount for the GoPro Smart Remote fits nicely on this pole. While there are cheaper poles on the market, do some research on what they are constructed of and what kind of user reviews they have. For the price, I feel that this pole will serve me well for years in any type of conditions.

Best pole for the GoPro
Ordered this for my husband for his new GoPro9. He's had other poles before that were cheaply made and just not built to last. This one you can tell is a quality product. It has a built on mount so you dont have to worry about switching it out with another mount. It has the built in wrist strap which is nice because the past ones were screwed into the bottom handle and always fell out over time some how. The grip on the handle is good and the pole itself extends and folds back with no issues, even after being in water. The only gripe he has is that the nut on the end of the screw mount is easy to lose but other than that, he loves it!

Sandmarc has a good product here
Sandmarc has a good product here! Back story...I ordered this extension pole to be used with a GoPro camera in water applications. I could not find another extension pole that is waterproof at the length this provides! However, I used it for about 3 weeks before I came into some problems. The adjustable wrist strap detached from the grip and the extension pole piece that had the handle would no longer tighten and hold together. I ended up wrapping the strap around the grip, and I taped the pole pieces together, but both these problems left me wondering how secure the pole would be after this, especially with an expensive camera on the end of it. This left me upset because I thought I had a good find and the product was working so well for the time I used it! I ended up reaching out to the manufacture to see what they could do for me. Not only did they respond to my concerns within 24 hours, they sent me a brand new pole (no additional charges, no shipping costs, nor did they asked me to send the defective pole back) by the end of the week! Although I had some product complications in the beginning, Sandmarc has great customer service and is quick to address your concerns. I will 100% recommend them and use their products again! Thank you Sandmarc!

Very sturdy and well built pole
This selfie stick pole thing feels like quality material which I was nervous about from other brands. I took it out and used it on the slopes when I went shredding. I will say because it’s so close to the camera, it’s a little difficult to screw in the GoPro to this and then as some point even with the backing in, I may not have tightened it enough but the backing for the screw that holds the go pro on got lost. That’s an easy fix though. Overall it’s a great durable product that works really well! Just wish the design was slightly different so that screwing in the GoPro isn’t as much of a pain.

Great pole. High quality and very sturdy
Great pole. High quality and very sturdy. I can see myself using this as self defense if I have to. I bought this Professional Mini Ball Head Camera Mount http://www.amazon.com/Professional-Mini-Ball-Camera-Mount/dp/B000L47AHG/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1425580840&sr=8-3&keywords=camera+ball so I can rotate and tilt as well. With the ball head, you attach a camera to the end of it and rotate it. You can mount a camera on the end of it by removing the GoPro mount but it will just be straight. I took it with me on a trip and few days later, one of the threads detached from the pole and the pole was able to split in 2. Luckily, I wasn't over deep water when it happened because other end of the pole with my GoPro on it could have detached and been underwater by now. Their customer service is amazing. I told them what happened, showed them a photo and a few days later got my replacement pole. I probably got a defective pole but atleast I got a new one.

Worst build, but caused me to lose my camera
The aluminum pole itself is very good, but I had a terrible experience using it while diving. The rubber handle where it’s attached came off during the dive, and I lost my camera. Definitely turned out to be a very expensive mistake.

First of, I did a good 3 week research on Gopro poles as I didn't want to pay anywhere near £40 for just a pole. But oh boy how wrong I was not to consider it right from the beginning. This is by far the best pole around. Yes, this particular model doesn't float, but apart from that, its one of, if not the lightest pole around. Thick enough so it feels substantial in your hand, yet thin enough so its not like GoPoles I have seen around, which are too think in my opinion.Feels very sturdy so you don't have a feeling that it will bear or bend with use. Locking mechanism is excellent. Nothing new or fancy, just proven system from expensive tripods. All metal and very easy to set up. The bloody thing looks and feels like it will last you for the next 5 generations of Gopros. Seriously, it does feel like it will be the only one that you will ever buy, as one of the other reviews already said. With him/her 100% Everything on it is metal. Mostly aluminium. And you can find poles that are all metal as well, but the level of detail that these guys put into designing and making it is incredible. I handled dozens of Gopro accessories but so far I haven't handled anything that is so precisely machined as parts on this pole. Just the tripod adapter (the shiny one on on top of the pole) and the Sandmarc screw they provide are machined so beautifully that it makes me want more and more of their stuff. And by the way I have probably around 30-40 different Gopro screws of which half are aluminium, but none of them come close to quality or level of detail to Sandmarc's screw. I'm going on about a screw not because I am fascinated by screws of any kind, but because to me it tells a lot about people that made this product; If they bothered to beautifully design and produce such a small part or this product, the rest of it will be even better. And it is. All I am' going to say is, in this instance you do get what you paid for and I can't wait for Sandarac to start selling more of their products in the UK.
