This is it.. ancient wisdom crystal clear.. Over a half century I walked my path consuming anything spiritual until my head was full.. Then I heard about this book being a favorite of Ramana Maharshi so I purchased it.. It is absolute perfection and I'll leave it at that.. Twenty thumbs-up 🙏👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😉

This is a collection of sayings by Sri Dattatreya, the first guru. The sayings are absolute non-duality. Dattatreya was a Shakta or a worshiper of the goddess, and probably a naked sage or an outcast. I enjoyed these sayings because there were no troubling remarks about the caste system, no seemingly contradictory statements about following one's dharma (caste duty) even if it involves a war that destroys mankind. (Bhagavad Gita) Everything is oneness. We are all one, and morality is created by man for man. Of course if all is one, then compassion is all encompassing. He does not dabble in man's created system of "how to get along" or morality or the caste system. He realizes these change over time and with each age, it will be different.

It is excellent if you understand.

This version of the translation is not best. I took the risk so it was a $6 loss. If you are looking for the most beautiful translated version pay the extra money and get the one ISBN 0-914557-15-7 with the flower/carpet cover. They are both translated by the same person yet this one is dull and uninspiring. The other version is breath taking and touches you deeply.

though i didn't actually get this copy. I got a slightly different version. so that was a bit disappointing. But really love the Avadhuta Gita.

I love this book, it contains the English translation, the original Sanskrit and the transliteration as well. Very profound teachings in a very small book.

You can find the text free online . The comments are well thought out. It comes in a handy pocket book format, so it's easy to pack if you want to

One book which will change your life so you can realise your essence and that you are the infinite changeless homogeneous existence

Lovely to have this rare book but do show a little caution in terms of which edition you purchase. The Sri Ramakrishna Math Printing Press version is not an attractive publication, resembling those flimsy books that devotees of Hari Krishna hand out at airports. Inspirational read though.
