The Purrfect Arch is a self-groomer and massager. It says it will stop shedding &scratching. It also claims to have durable bristles and be "super sturdy" I'm going to be honest with you all…I don't like cats…like not at all. I know your all thinking, "Why the heck are you buying a cat toy thing?!" Well…long story short, I fell in love with someone…they had a cat. Fast forward time a little and now I live with a cat….anyway, back to the review… The product is easy to unpackage and put together, take the base out and snap the two ends of the rod thing in. I primarily purchased it because I cant stand that the cat rubs up against everything. I thought he would like having something specifically made for cats to rub against. Well it worked! He loves this product and uses all day every day (see attached photos of him in action.) Some of the reviews say it easily comes apart easily. I wouldn't say that is the case with mine. We've had it a few weeks and I've only seen him pop it out of the base once and that is because something scared him and he jumped while he was under the arch. If I had any cons I guess they would be the following: 1. They could make it sturdier…maybe add a lock type mechanism on the bottom so it wont come out. 2. Make a plug on the bottom to hold the catnip in…it's just a hole that you have to wiggle around the carpet to get the catnip to fall in the right spot. BTW…I should have never used the catnip. I only used a tiny pinch and it made him act crazy and wildly drugged up.

Okay, rating this based on my 4 cat's responses to it. Bazil - Loves to claw on the carpet and guard it from the other cats, but hasn't really used the bristle parts as a brush - only tries if there is catnip rubbed in the bristles, once it is gone she looses interest. Savanah - Couldn't care less about it. She's looked at it a couple times (mostly on the day it arrived) but has no interest in rubbing on it. LittleBit - Likes to claw the carpet and Loves (for some reason) to lick, yes lick, the bristles... She's a weird cat. She will sit at it for HOURS and just lick the bristles, maybe on occasion rub her chin over it. Bobby - He has caught on that it is nice to rub against - mostly head, neck and chin. But his favorite thing is to run into the side of the bristle part, at full speed and knock it over. My opinion of it - easy to assemble (two pegs, two holes). Good quality carpet, no crappy fake fur for them to shred in a day. The bristles are sturdy but flexible so there isn't a worry that it will hurt them. Has a hole in the base, on the underside, where catnip can be put to try and coax the cats into using it more... hasn't really helped. Not going to say it was a bad buy or a bad product, because it isn't, just wasn't really worth me buying because my cats just aren't getting any real enjoyment out of it. I've got friends that have these for their pets and they (pets) love them. Mine don't seek it out when it gets moved - like they do with their various scratching posts, it if gets moved they don't care enough to find it. **EDIT - 5/8/15 - increased it to 4 stars (from 3). It took the cats a couple months but now they seem to enjoy it, a lot more than they did in the beginning. Seems it just took them a while to really warm up to it.

Please remember to think of adoption and always spay and neuter your little critter! There are too many cats out there without hopes. I feel bad for this product seeing the occasional negative review because in my experience it's great and functions exactly as intended. It snapped together very easily and I was happy to see that the bristles were semi-sturdy and brush-like rather than the firm, wiry pipe cleaner material than I thought they might be. My cat took to the arch right away, brushing her face against it for a test and then continuing to rake her sides and back against it. For the first few months that I owned the toy she also really enjoyed laying down under it, and to this day she still continues to give it regular brushes against her face. She never really used it to scratch her back but that's probably because she's kind of a small cat. She does like walking under it and arching up so that it scratches the base of her tail. She's also used the carpet base as a scratching area and, naturally, rolls all over it whenever I put catnip in the compartment at the bottom (don't put catnip on the carpet itself, your cat could potentially choke on it if she chews at the catnip). I think a lot of the reviews for this item are based on whether the reviewer's cat liked it, not based on the quality of the item itself. I guess that makes sense in a way, but since cats are so unique and finicky it's kind of unfair to judge the product based on the cat's personality. I give it five stars not just because my cat has always enjoyed it, but because it "works" as intended and has remained perfectly intact and usable since I bought it. I hope your cat likes it too!

Positiv: die Borsten der Bürste sind nicht zu hart, daher keine Gefahr für die Augen, wenn die Katze sich dran reibt. Negativ: die Bodenplatte liegt nicht flach auf, kam leicht gewölbt und gibt auch nach einiger Zeit leider nicht nach. Die Katzenminze (die mitgeliefert wird) war wahrscheinlich schon zu alt. Unsre Katzen lieben das normal aber auf diese haben sie nicht reagiert. Fazit: der Bürstenbogen wird leider nicht angenommen, auch daher würde ich ihn wahrscheinlich nicht mehr bestellen. Am Lieferkarton hatten Sie mehr Spaß :)

Bought this for the cats but they won't go near it. I put the catnip that came with it on it and it made them sick and they puked for three days all over the place. I would've sent it back but I am hopeful that one day they will use it.
