A good intro and, as the title says, it is "brief"
If someone looking to buy a book on globalization is angling for detail, this is not the book for you. However, if you want a brief supplement to a text or other source on the subject, or if you simply want an introduction that makes a little sense of what globalization is, a peek into the historical, political and economic dimensions of the subject, I really don't think you can go wrong with this short reference. Steger does an excellent job breaking down the essential elements and turning it into a more substantive discussion (albeit very brief) that helps one get past the morass of rhetoric so often heard when the term "globalization" is tossed around.

Perfect for understanding the issues of the coming elections.
This book is fantastic. I have assigned it to my globalization class. It is cheap, and gives a great overview of all the issues. It's perfect for an introduction understanding of Globalization. Pretty much every election in the world right now is about either joining into, or refuting globalization. You need to understand what it is, and how trying to stop it will lead to a collapse of the international system.

An Introduction to any subjects arises interest for more in-depth study
I am reviewing this product to get an understanding about how globalization impacts all aspects of human existence.

Beats the student stores for sure
Bought this as a required text for a college class, since I definitely wasn't about to drop $30.00 USD for it at my uni's student store! Can you imagine spending that much for a book this small?Anyway, as for the text, I loved the topic, but it did seem pretty obvious at times: full of complicated definitions for terms that aren't actually that complex if you just take a second to think about it. Oh well, it was a fun class anyway!

As Described.
I ordered this book for a class and it did come in two days due to my Amazon Prime subscription. It was in new condition. Only downside is I've probably only opened this thing one time lol. Those gosh darn college professors.

Decent starting point, but has consistent liberal, anti-Americanism, anti-capitalism slant throughout
It's alright for what it is "A very short introduction" to globalization. The author clearly has a liberal bias. I mean, he quotes Karl Marx in chapter 2 in reference to the pitfalls of capitalism...in essence he lends credence to the communist philosophy in choosing his quote. Aside from that direct example, you can read between the lines, the disdain this guy seems to have for Americanism and capitalism. With that said, I do think he did a fairly decent job of giving a concise abridged version of (his take) Globalization.

Recommend to read!
This is a great book! I'm a sociology major and many globalization topics are very related to the theories and topics discussed in sociology. This book in particular discusses corporation power attainment and growth.

Great book!
Great book! I needed this for one class, but also used it in two other classes as a reference! It is an amazing book with good examples, but is very brief and can be devoured in a day!
