Better taste than decaf, and without the caffeine.
If you're the type of coffee drinker that loves coffee so much you want to drink it at night, and often regret your decision hours later as you lie awake in bed, this is a great alternative. I love coffee, but I can't stand decaf. This blend has its own flavor, yet lives up to my night-time drinking needs when I crave coffee. I'm pretty impressed by the flavor of this blend. They managed to turn roasted herbs into a very close match to coffee. Of course, it doesn't taste exactly like coffee, but it has the same darkness, depth, and aroma. It's its own unique taste, but it feels like I'm drinking coffee when I'm sipping a cup. I actually crave the flavor of this stuff. I think it's best mixed with half-and-half, which gives it a smooth finish and creamy flavor. The ground mixture looks just like coffee and I use it in my french press the same. For me the health benefits are just an added bonus as I would drink it either way. This is really your best choice for coffee substitute at night without going to decaf.

Ok
Taste is inky average. I’ve used but in the past burner flavor seems less robust than before.

Good for you, but does not smell or taste like any coffee
I really wanted to like this stuff because I need to cut down on coffee consumption. I was very excited to receive this "coffee." The minute I opened the bag I noticed it smelled nothing like coffee at all. It was interesting to recall that one of the reviewers stated in a blindfolded taste test you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between this and real coffee. Hmmmmm. Anyway, I made it exactly like I make my regular coffee, and it tastes nothing like any coffee I have ever tasted anywhere (and I've had my share of desperation java in the past). I was very disappointed in the taste. The flavor is not really "bad," just totally different from that rich coffee aroma and taste. It looks like coffee, though. What I ended up doing is mixing it with regular coffee. This helped a lot, and it reduced my intake of cafffeine and acid. It tasted okay mixed with regular coffee, and that's what I will probably do in the future. Will I buy it again? Probably. If I feel okay and my symptoms improve I will try to stick with it. Like I said, it's not bad, just different. It is possible I will get used to the taste. I did a lot of research on the ingredients in this product. They can be good for your heart and help you feel calm. This could be a good thing. I just wanted to take the time and post about the taste and aroma.

Free from caffeine at last!!
I have been trying for years to get off caffeine. Recently, I have become determined to eat a more anti-inflammatory diet because science has discovered that inflammation is what results in what we call illness. I started using the Organic Caffeine-free Coffee Substitute By Ayurvedic Roast about 6 months ago and it has worked beautifully. It is rich and full bodied and therefore very satisfying. It has been easy to stay away from real coffee. Decaff coffee for some reason always made me sleepy....this does not! It is organic as well as caffeine free so it fits my new diet/life style perfectly. I highly recommend it. It is not cheap but you have to factor in how expensive medical care is and how this coffee substitute can help avoid it. This coffee substitute is a good investment! You can always get the small trial size to see if it works for you...I did!!

Good Beverage, little pricey
This beverage has a good flavor which I actually like better than regular coffee. I have been going organic as much as I can and cut back on caffeine which I really don't need. Caffeine can't take place of needed rest and sleep and too much caffeine doesn't help the brain and the body, so this beverage worked good for me. What I don't like is the price. Cost more than regular coffee and it goes fast if you drink it every day. I cut back to 3-4 days a week and drink regular organic caffeine-free coffee the other days. Also, besides our needed rest and healthy diet, a good organic whey, banana, blueberry, almond & coconut milk, and juice/veggie blend shake gives a good perk too. You can also make a shake out of this beverage. Microwave 2 tbsp of Ayurvedic in 1/2 cup water almost to boil then set few min and strain out grounds. Set in freezer about 15 min.to cool. Pour in blender with some organic maple syrup or organic cane sugar to sweeten it, 1 tsp organic vanilla, 1 cup organic almond & coconut milk, 1 tbsp organic cocoa powder (optional) and ice. Can also top with a dab of whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon, sprinkle of ground dark chocolate or dust of cocoa.

Flavor has a hint of coffee, but don't expect to be wowed.
I just found out that I can no longer have caffeine (boo!) and that even decaf coffee has too much residual for me to drink. This was terrible news because I LOVE coffee! After looking for an alternative I found out about "herbal" coffees and did some research. This one got great reviews for its likeness to coffee, so I thought I'd give it a try. I knew it wouldn't be just like coffee, so I did temper my expectation. The first batch I made (using my coffeemaker) tasted more like plain hot water than anything else. I used more on the next batch- 1 tbsp per 8 oz. - and it was just OK. It's flavor suggests coffee, but I wouldn't say I've overjoyed and totally happy that this is a replacement. After a few days of using it, I can say it scratches the itch a bit, but I still miss real coffee in a big way. EDITED on 10/31/16: I just dropped a star from my rating. I was really trying to like this and I think my desperation overwhelmed my good sense. This is not very good and is definitely not a coffee replacement. I am working to get through the bag because it was so expensive. I've since tried Teeccino and find that to be very good and a much closer facsimile than this stuff.

Great taste, very similar to the "real" coffee, perfect for those (like me) who cannot have caffeine but who love some hot dark drink :)

I love this blend - perfect for giving up coffee! Works great when made in the mokka. Vanilla flavour is subtle, but delicious.
