Only VacMaster bags for the freezer and sous vide
I've been vacuum packing foods for 20 years, tried a lot of brands, and I'll go back to VacMaster every time. Yes, I know they probably buy them from the same place as a couple of other brands, but these have been the most consistent over time of any brand that I have tried. They are also a bit thicker that some that are out there now. This is a little embarrassing but I recently discovered that a bag of venison that I'd previously packed and pulled in and out of the freezer many times for defrosting the freezer had a date that I'd put on it in December - - - - 2014. If you're looking at this way down the road, consider the date on this review. Yep... 10 years. Honestly, no visible freezer burn, no anything other than a fresh looking piece of meat. So figuring that it would likely be tossed but more curious than hungry, it was time to thaw it out and see what I had. It turns out that by all appearances and smell that it had gone in the freezer maybe a month or two ago, not 10 years. So it went into a pot with some beef roasts for some special Italian beef recipe that I make. Perfect! So yeah, I might be able to save a penny a bag elsewhere, but since I never see freezer burn and apparently have an unlimited freezer shelf life, I see no reason to spend dollars to save pennies. Thanks VacMaster for good sealers and the bags that are used for them. There really isn't any better value for the money out there and the ease of use is something that a child could understand. I know because I've had kids doing it with me. The seals are amazing and rarely fail. When one does fail, it's almost always been because I crimped the plastic at the sealer. Besides meats, I package veggies, bones, soups, gravy, spaghetti, and more. If it can be frozen, thawed and eaten, I've used these for that. The durability simply can't be beaten. Despite having unused bags around for 5-8 years before use, I've never tossed one or questioned whether I should use it. Also for those who sous vide, I often prep my food, particularly meat, ready for the sous vide maker. If I know I'll be doing that, I'll package the meat with butter, olive oil, and spices directly in it so that all I have to do is drop it in the pot and let er rip. So far I haven't had any that have leaked. All that said, these are designed for chamber vacuum machines only. Those press and seal ones will NOT work with these bags... something about the texture of the bags being different, they don't seal properly in the press and seal ones like the FoodSaver. Sorry, you have to get the expensive ones.

Top tier.
Excellent pouches for any chamber sealer. The best that money can buy, IMO. I use em for sealing summer salmon catches.

These are the ones
We've been using these for years with our VacMaster vacuum sealer and they work great. We wouldn't consider going with some cheaper alternative, mostly because these seem reasonably priced, are tried and true for us, and this is a multi-year supply for us. Arrived promptly, in perfect condition, and just as described. Would absolutely do it again and recommend.

Strong, Food-Safe Poly Chamber Pouches
These pouches are the non-BPA, cost-effective way to vacuum seal foods, clothing, whatever into a low moisture/low oxygen environment for storage. Some compression results as air is vacuumed out, so more of whatever can be stored in cartons or on shelves. I use mine in the kitchen, with a VacMaster chamber vacuum sealer. This is the way to extend the freezer life of fruits like cherries and blueberries and strawberries without creating the environment that leads to internal frost and freezer burn. I use the sous vide method to cook appropriately: these pouches stand up to anything but sharp edges on bones and the like. Double-pouching or using the company's 'Bone Guard' sheets resolves this problem. A properly sealed pouch withstands temperatures below the boiling point of water (the limit of sous vide water bath techniques.) The pouches withstand constant temperatures below boiling for days (three days in my longest 'cook.') At that point, moderately sharp kitchen shears easily cut through the pouch. I would gladly rate this product as FIVE STAR, if not for the durability issue with 'sharp' or hard bone edges.

Like the size (8x12 inch). I process a lot of venison every fall and these bags worked like a charm. I have other bags from cheaper manufacturers and have failures once in a while with the seal but these bags seal every time and seem like they are made from a better plastic.

Perfect four sous vide cooking or long term storage in the freezer. They are cheaper than the 6mil but don't take the abuse. When air dropped the 6mil holds up much better, with the 3mil I suggest parachutes for your product. If you distribute your product under water or in body cavitates the 3mil will work just fine. A wise escobar once told me "6mil for the sky, 3mil under water, everything looks blue lets get another beer" there you have it!

Great bags but more expensive than other chamber vac bags out there.
