Moon Valley Organics Herbal Lotion Bar in Lavender, Moon Melt Bar, Calendula and Comfrey, Beeswax, Heal and Restore Chapped Skin, Soothing

I am trying to stop using products in plastic containers and have been slowly replacing items that I use regularly with more sustainable options. Sadly, I live in a VERY arid and high elevation climate so I don't think I can totally be free of bottled lotions for my whole body. However, this product really surprised me! It has become my go to hand product. I keep one by my bed, one in my purse, one in my desk, one in my work bag. I am constantly grabbing for it when my hands need a little TLC. When I first tried it, I didn't think much of it- I didn't feel like it would really moisturize that well. The first application didn't feel very greasy and my hands absorbed the product really quickly, so I really didn't think it was working. Boy, was I wrong! I had put it on right before bed, replacing my usual nightly hand cream. Next morning my hands felt softer and MORE moisturized than my usual, more expensive cream. I was impressed! The scents are great- I love every one of them. I think the vanilla is my favorite so far, but they're all good. The thing is super easy to use- I just rub it around like I'm washing my hands with bar soap and then rub the product in a little more once I put the bar down. It seems to last a while- not as long as I'd like, but I do use it a lot. My one wish is that the pretty design would last longer on the front, but c'est la vie! It's such a great product anyway. I love the container. I have problems with containers working themselves open in my purse- even child-proof pill bottles open themselves in that cavern. But these stay closed well despite the jostling, and yet are easy to open with lotion-y hands. I'm impressed and am a true convert. I love this stuff!

Smells amazing and works amazingly! Love bar lotions and I most definitely recommend moon valley lotion bar. I got the bergamot and it smells heavily. It is definitely unisex bc my son loves it too.

Personal Review: I'm not a person who really goes for lotions, but I had another brand's lotion bar several years ago that I liked, so I bought this one hoping for the same--a nice solid bar that I could rub between my hands to get a light coating (see additional reasons for purchase below). This bar didn't really behave the way I expected it to, but I'm satisfied and expect to purchase it again in the future (I've already purchased a second to keep at work). One would expect to be able to pop this bar out of the tin and rub it between one's hands. I've found that is not possible past the first or second use--it gets stuck to the tin and won't come out. So I have to use my finger to scoop some of the lotion off the "bar" and go from there. I live in a climate which has been very cold in the time since my first purchase of this product, so the problem is definitely NOT that it melted--it's just not very solid to begin with. I like that it soaks into my skin, but seems to leave a protective coating that lasts through at least one hand-washing, so I don't have to re-apply constantly. Review from my 12-year-old son's perspective: My mom bought this specific bar because it doesn't contain nut oils, which I'm allergic to. I HATE lotions, they make my hands itch and sometimes even hurt! I let my mom rub this bar on my hands because they were cracked and bleeding from excessive hand-washing (I have mild OCD and don't use towels, preferring to let my hands air-dry). The bar worked very well and after only a couple days my hands healed. However, I don't like the smell and wish there was an unscented version. It also made my hands itch a little, but not like lotions with nut oils in them, and it didn't make my hands hurt. If there were an unscented version, I'd probably use this more often to protect my hands.

Wow I'm actually super impressed ... I bought this for a flight because I was trying to bring less liquids in my carryon, but I want to use this all the time from now on!! It's a super moisturizing balm and smells amazing. I bought it to use on my hands, but I am putting it on my neck too because it smells so good... can't wait to try the other scents. Some notes... - I saw people comment that it's hard to use, but it's really easy - I just used the edge of my nail to scrape some of the balm off (instead of "scratching" the balm which would make it collect under your nail, you can push the nail in the opposite direction so the balm collects on the top of your nail) - Some said it was too greasy, but the balmy texture is perfect for my dry skin. A lot of lotions just get absorbed so fast that my hands go right back to feeling dry again, but this lotion keeps them feeling moisturized & comfy - My skin is very sensitive and I haven't had any issues yet

I wanted to try bar lotion as it doesn’t have water listed as the first ingredient. So I decided to try this because of the reviews. I like the bar itself, it does a great job moisturizing but the smell is so overwhelming I can’t use it. I ordered the bergamot one. I’ll have to search for an unscented I guess. I do like the bar though
