Well made. Many Hofbrauhaus beer steins sold in the US are made in the US with authorization from Germany. This is made in Germany and with more designs and a better handle/larger opening for fingers than those made in the US. It has to be hand washed. Some of our old ones have lost the painting from scrubbing. Hopefully this one will last longer

I've bought and used German steins for several years. This one is absolutely NOT worth the $43 I paid. Maybe half of that. Looks, design, etc. are find. But the materials are not. It is half the weight of a real stein. It does not keep cold liquids cool very long, or hot liquids hot for nearly as long. The item arrived well packed. But it is not stamped or imprinted 'made in germany'. It simply had a very small gummed label stuck to the side that said it was.I believe it is a Chinese knock off. I should have returned it, but waited longer than the month return period. I would never have bought this - even for $20 in a store. I wanted a stein that was solid, and kept the liquids hot or cold. I cannot believe 4 people all unanimously gave this a 5.
