Edit 2- Waistband is Comfy-ish
These were different than the ones my grandma bought me last year, and I know these are the same because I saw the comment I made on these under my grandparent's account and purchased them myself this time. The only difference is the waist band. My number one love for these was the covered waistband, like the Hanes comfort soft or whatever it's called. These have the typical scratchy elastic waistband that is not covered with any of the fabric (silk) so the waistband is itchy. Wear your boxers either a little high, or pull your silk pants down some, forreal.Otherwise, these are fantastic. I wear them literally everyday along with the silk shirt by this brand, and my shirt is still holding up well. Obviously you can't wash these (or any silkwear) in a machine or you'll destroy them - learned that the hard way (obviously, right?) but I hand wash mine instead with a tiny bit of detergent in the bathtub and then air-dry them and they don't stretch, shrink, or unthread themselves. I have stretch lines in the shirt, but it's a year old now and for being paper-thin silk, that's a decent buy. This set of this brand for pants and shirt adds up to about $55.00 but has free shipping. So for a year of everyday wearing, these were more than worth it and I had to buy them again for the upcoming winter.Silk is lightweight, like the package says "warmth protection [or quality or level, I don't know] is a 1 - which is the lowest level of warmth - so don't expect these to keep your person from freezing in really cold climates. For Michigan - and northern Kentucky that I live in now, these are the best at keeping the chill away. Moisture wicking is extraordinary with silk, too. After wearing these, I came to find out that while the waistband is not covered, it is indeed soft and does not itch or poke. I gave back the star I initially took away. Thanks, Terramar.WAISTBAND actually kinda bends and folds in on itself making it slightly annoying - especially since it curls around your pants or boxers.

Real silk base layer
This is silk - real silk, but it is thin. A recent test by the US government ranked fibers by warmth as animal fibers (such as fur or wool) as best, cotton next, Spandex as third, silk as fourth, and synthetics as fifth. By itself, silk is not warm. Thick silk base layers, such as Lands End silk base layer for men, are warm-ish. At best silk base layers make other clothing move without making cold gaps next to your skin. This is good enough. However, Thermasilk is best if you put something warm and close to your body over it. Then it really shines as a base. Your movement will be unrestricted and your core body will be warm. It also packs up into a really small bundle if you have to backpack it. Thermasilk is light weight, easily packed, and helpful when building layers. It also doesn't pick up odors, so it doesn't stink. Finally, you must never discount the fact that it feels like silk. On top of all that, Thermasilk offers a reasonably decent price.

Terramar Thermasilk Underwear
These are a great addition to your underwear wardrobe if you wear suits or business clothing. Yes they are thin and appear to be like a mix of pantyhose and leotards for men, but they do a great job helping you retain body heat in dress clothing without adding alot of bulk and knotting in the process. By just adding a second layer the air that pockets between the fabric builds a good field of insulation and keeps you warmer. If you remove your trousers you can feel the air through these, this shows how they breathe and prevent you from sweating when you are inside or doing something active. I am 69 years old and of small statue, cold weather affects me more than some folks and these Thermasilks have certainly helped me be alot more active this winter than usual. I love my new underwear they do a good job, not to mention how great they feel, smooth and silky, a treat that most men don't get to experience unless they are rubbing a female frame. They seem to run a bit large (at lest for me) so check the sizeing chart carefully before you make your purchase. Hope you enjoy yours as much as me and my lady friends do.
