The best socks I ever purchased for use in the military. Being in the Navy, we would usually stand hours and hours of watches whether you're out in the freezing cold or sweltering hot weather. These socks will keep your feet warmer than your average socks from the NEX and will keep your feet dryer from sweat when it's hot out than any socks out there. When I use other socks without dry powder on my feet (as an experiment), I noticed my feet would sweat a lot more compared to when I wore these. They're also pretty comfortable and will keep a cushion for your heels and toes when standing watch for hours on end. These things are also better when using them over new boots. It'll still rub on the back of your feet but it's better than your average socks. I've used these things for a couple of years now and they haven't had any holes on them either. The only thing I would say that I hate about these is the fact that they're expensive. But it's worth every penny.

I wear steel toe boots in the oil field for 15-17 hours a day, 7 days a week, for 5 weeks at a stretch. The comfort of my feet is paramount in the performance of my job. I generally work in Colorado and Texas, so I am subjected to temperatures ranging from over 100 degrees to well below zero. It has been challenging to find socks that are comfortable for this range of conditions, and that work well with the two main pairs of boots that I wear, which are a pair of Danner Super Rainforest, and a pair of Bog's Rancher steel toed boots. I recently purchased 6 pairs of the Thorlo over the calf combat boot socks and have been very pleased with them. I had been wearing 2 pairs of socks prior to getting these, but the Thorlos have the perfect amount of cushioning by themselves. They are very well made, and the length is great, particularly when wearing my Bogs, which come up almost to the knee. We have been experiencing snow, slush, and cold temperatures over the past couple of weeks in Colorado, so I have been wearing my Bogs, which are waterproof rubber boots that are great for keeping your feet dry but do not breathe whatsoever. They are also not insulated. We had temperatures in the low single digits, a windchill of under zero, and around a foot of snow on the ground. The Thorlo combat boot socks not only kept my feet warm, but they wicked moisture in a way that I didn't even feel like I was wearing a pair of rubber boots. The Bogs are comfortable anyway, but with these socks, it almost felt like I wasn't even wearing boots at all. I will be ordering another half-dozen pairs of the Thorlos very soon. Great socks that are keeping my feet happy.

Been wearing Thorlo's Combat Boot Socks for a month now & DarnTough Mountaineering OTC Boot Sock for 3 weeks. Okay the goods side by side, first off pilling on both socks to note is probably from Wolverine Wedge Wellngton Boot with raw/rough leather shaft. Read a lot of reviews on both socks (to be honest) i don't think these consumers are giving true benefit of doubt considering boot shaft (type) obviously a lined shaft will probably not produce pilling as much. My quest was to find the THICKEST most CUSHIONED, PADDED sock available!!! despite brand/history/price. I live in Hawaii and NO you don't have to be in the Cold or Snow to wear Thick Padded socks. I like the Cushion/Padded feel on my feet thru my work day on my feet (6'1"-200lbs.) for 8-12hrs. on Concrete/Asphalt. (Thorlos) OTC nice soft,dry could be thicker in heel & forefoot mainly where it counts shin/shaft has nice padding also overall-rating (4 of 5 stars). ***Next (DarnTough) OTC seems better quality tighter weave (may retain more heat build-up) but no hot spots & not uncomfortable at all. After washing felt more thick & comfy, felt like fibers expanded in a GOOD way! Overall-rating (4.5 of 5 stars) **Clincher LIFETIME (no question asked) WARRANTY!!! WHO i ask WHO in these days gives you a NO questions asked LIFETIME-WARRANTY... Made In the U.S.A Ooooops... NO ONE PERIOD. Next Sock test, (EuroSock) Mountaineering Heavy-Weight Sock. Technology seems advanced, but true-life test will determine real-world worth. Again my quest is Cushion/Padding above all. UnderArmour may be next test if EuroSock does not rate a (5 star) rating. to be continued... My brother worse these when he was in the Marine Corps. I wear them for everyday work. They fit great, are comfortable, keep my feet cool, and have a great cushion. They last a long time, too. I think they've made some improvements over time. My first pair was from about 10 years ago and over time the became thin and lost the cushion and got holes. The ones I got over the past two years have held up much better and the elastic is still holding tight. My only word of caution is that since these are on the thicker side, they might make some shoes have a tighter fit if they're tight to begin with. Built for comfort, cool feet, dry feet, and now built to last!

This is the BEST sock I have ever put on my feet. I absolutely love theses socks. I wear them with my Composite toe ariat no lace boots. These are the most comfortable socks I have ever worn. They stay up on your calf and never fall down into your boot.They are thick on the bottoms and really support your feet. I could walk for days in my boots with these socks. This will be the only sock I ever wear from now on. Highly impressed to to say the least. If you're not sure if you should spend this much on a pair of socks then just buy one pair and try them. I am cheap and frugal except for when it comes to something I use everyday. Bed, work clothes, boots, and technology. I have learned that its cheaper to buy the right product regardless of price. This is a good product and worth every penny. Saves your feet and saves you money in the long run. This is not an expensive product that is cheaply made. The design and quality for the price is all there and well worth it. You will not be disappointed.

Good quality product. Wanted to buy again after receiving and testing. However the price went up by 40% and I have to give the repurchase a miss.
