Excellent sound and output in a manageable package
Product: I plugged a 1970s spec passive Fender Precision bass into this combo and it sounded phenomenal across all settings to my ears, great down at low home practice volume and great cranked up, can't say how it works with an active bass as I don't own one but output volume was certainly cleanly lowered on that input while maintaining tonal character on my passive bass. I don't have many controls on that bass of course but the amp was quite responsive to knob changes made on the instrument side. The SGT, horn, plus hi and low switches were a lot of fun to play around with. I play off and on semi-professionality with an artist and it's perfect for both the studio especially with DI line and easily enough for the small to medium gigs with fellow amplified instrument users and drummers I would do. With two instrument inputs I can also play along with and help band mates learn their parts through the same output device, a truly excellent feature even though it seems intended for active vs passive basses. I've also hooked an aux to it it as well as headphones and it's great for full songs with that. Finally being fairly large and weighing in at about 40lbs this was a bit of a pain to get in the door with the box, but outside of the box was more managble and easier to transport than other sound systems and stacks I own, lots better than those on the studio side too. Wonderful combo. Seller: There was a slight hiccup with address across shipper and carrier but it was fixed same night after some emails and phone calls and arrived the next afternoon without much delay, still several days early from original delivery estimate so big plus on that and working with me to fix the error quickly. Packaging got a bit roughed up in transit but did it's job and protected the amp itself and all parts perfectly, build quality is impeccable and it functions exactly as it should, I love the amplifier and will certainly be keeping the product as a mainstay amongst my equipment.

Not a Toy Amp
Not a beginner, not first amp delight, far from amateur, and pretty much as an audio snob... I can state this is a sweet package of boomin' bass fun. They nailed the EQ and Class D magic headroom. The lil' 8" thrusts like a pogo stick and moves some air. I was astounded at the small room level this thing pumps out. Okay, not going to attempt to say you could play live or a small club but if you are at practice+ levels, you're more than set. Started fooling with loopers and drum machines during covid. Tried the octave shifting boxes to 'simulate' bass. Had a cool Gretsch Jet short scale and thought a cheap bass amp may be the ticket? The Ampeg is well, kinda cheap, but bang for the buck it barks like a proper amp and looks much more spendy. The thing is killer looped as a 'real' bass popping from a real amp. The EQ is surprisingly active sweeping from full cut to boost range. Forget the stupid 'contour' buttons this thing can nail those tones. Somebody paid attention to the Mid as it can have the 'modern sound' rolling mids down or have a big fat bass in your face tone with a touch of Bass added just above center or flat. Roll on treble and she speaks not bites. The build is solid and vintage cool. I almost went for the 10" flavor but spotted several reviewers liking the 8" tone better. The smaller amp is a couple pounds heavier than its bigger brother. Pretty sure it's the speaker with a larger magnet and beefy frame for more excursion. the Class D amp is in a sweet spot for wattage effortlessly providing gobs of low end and bone shaking fun tuned to low D. No clipping detected but not ran into crazy land, just cracking 3 on Vol. is yeah, loud. The single button distortion comes on rather crunchy sounding like Lemmy through a Fuzz-Face. Not gonna evaluate that tech. they seem quite proud of, but the upper models have two knobs controlling the effect and may be better suited to hear with adjustable roll on instead of wide-open crunch. What they deliver at this price point is crazy good. If you want a bazillion effects and what-nots to fuss with, get the Rumble. You want old-skool bass that blooms and barks and is not harsh or clippy, snag one of these. Would be an Ampeg Combo Fanboy but as Yamaha bought Ampeg a few years ago, me thinks they designed this beauty. Thanks Yammy, nailed it!

i love ampeg
I’m a beginner & figured i’d get an amp that’ll last me longer than like a 50w one so i was deciding between this & a fender rumble 500. there was a like new 210 for ~$100 off so i went with that. glad i did because this thing is sick! the built in super grit makes my jaguar bass purr very nice (so nice in fact it’s always on) & i haven’t even turned the volume past ~25%, which is already shaking windows. my only gripe is idk if i got a dud but the light for it being on is WAY too bright. the super grit light is fine but the on/off one is literally blinding so i’ll probably tape over it to save my eyes 😭 oh & i forgot, the checkerboard outside is sexy 😏

Simplicity itself. I love it.
I recently sold my orange tube amp (mainly a guitarist) and bought this to play bass and guitar thru nice and clean for recording purposes. It'd be great for party jams too, loud enough to tremble my house's walls, but I record at about half volume and get marvelous, clear, full, fluffy tone from it. Lightweight & pretty, too. For the price it seems like the best possible simple bass amp, I adore it already. (Also for people saying it wouldn't be loud at a gig, I dunno. I've been playing live events in bars and clubs for years and these amps are PERFECT for rooms like that as long as your group is good at balancing/listening to one another. It's a myth that volume is everything- some of the best live bands I've seen were great because you could HEAR each musician, lol. If you're being overpowered by your drummer for example, maybe they just don't understand dynamics or listen well... just my 2 cents on that topic.)

Great tone. Limited power.
Nice tone. Very clear, sweet highs and lows. Quiet fan. Fairly light. Limited power, not for a larger venue. Great for practice and small stage.

Wow. I didn't know it would be such a beast! I was cringing paying basically $955 CAD after tax etc....but now i see why. Jjust huge beautiful sound. Really glad i spent the money. It does a great job of low, mids and highs...and the EQ is decent enough to let you explore that.. the "growl ST" or whatever they call it's gain channel is pretty cool and has a nice sound to it... i can se how that might be super useful to some. It's big, ( little taller than a kick drum) but not too heavy. I was playing my Uke bass through it and it sounded giant lol...
