I purchased the 7 inch model. I am a new user of shakers and am accompanying an all women drum circle. I've been using larger metal shakers at practice, but when these arrived I was astonished at their quality and craftsmanship. It has a hefty weight and can make both loud and soft sounds. When tilted it can make a rain like effect. The finish is smooth, easily gripped and has a beautiful craftsmanship. I am thinking of treating it with linseed oil and sewing a padded carry case to protect it for my lifetime. This instrument is so responsive and achieves a good variety of sound. I think the price is right for the quality. One consideration is if you have wrist or shoulder issues, the smaller one might be easier on you.

FWIW, this is easily one of the best looking hammer shakers on Amazon. The bare wood surface is comfortable to hold, and while it may not be as impact-resistant as a metal or plastic shaker, the thin wood makes an excellent sound that's very satisfying to play with. Check YouTube as there are a few different ways to use this for percussion. It's very enjoyable.

This is a quality, professional instrument, not a toy. It is for serious musicians. I'm primarily a guitar player, but a former drummer, and I play in a church contemporary praise band that could use some non-drumming percussion. This fits the bill. There is a learning curve in that it is pretty big, and takes some getting used to. If you have a tiny hand this might not be for you. Most shakers/maracas are small and easy to use. But I'm adjusting to this one, and it is superior to most. I like the fact that it doesn't stand out. It has a simple but attractive appearance. The finish is smooth and comfortable to hold. It is louder than most so it will hold its own in an amplified band. If you have a guitar gig bag it should fit in your side-pocket. It is way better than most shakers I've tried.

These work. Once they came, I realized I would have preferred the larger one. But that is a personal preference. They appear to be well made. Haven't had any issues with them . Don't anticipate any issues either. Like many things, take care of them and they should last.

Nice Shaker - however, the advertising is very misleading. The pictures show this as a set. The verified review copied below states the smaller size comes as a pair. I would have not bought this if I had known it was a single shaker. The description needs to be clearer.
