Why does card stop working if the computer goes to sleep, forcing me to restart it to get it to work again?

Just change the amount of time for sleep mode, or just turn off sleep mode .

My current usb adapter disconnects in the middle of online games. How well does this stay connected?

We've had this adapter for a little over 2 weeks, and so far we have noticed no issues with disconnects. Our wifi signal is strong though, as the router is just in the next room (1 wall in-between router and adapter).
