Nineteen eighty-four

You can never go wrong with reading about dystopian societies as pictured from a post-WWII era. This is becoming all too common in the modern day. Especially in Europe and Asia.

I should NOT have read this a week before the November 2024 elections. Now I'm horrified.

Book is obviously great, but the cover falls off like crazy and gets everywhere. Such a shame since I bought this one specifically for the cover art.

The story is fantastic, definitely didn’t fully (or really at all) appreciate it back in school though my teachers tried. As an adult this is one of the only fiction books own. Read a couple times and future me will again This book helps anyone identify and see the many ways government can control a population. A cautionary tale thats almost all to true. The parallels to some “first world countries” currently is scary accurate

Better than other copies I've seen on here. The ink quality is a bit on the cheap side for this edition which is unfortunate as I love the cover art. In my picture you can see some faded imaging on a few of the eyeballs. As I stated my copy isn't as bad as most I've seen in past reviews I wanted to give a heads up to anyone interested in reading this. Otherwise it arrived in perfect condition and came very quick. I highly recommend this seller.

George Orwell's book 1984 is a work of literary genius. He explores the daily life of a party member in a totalitarian state who seeks to rebel against the system. Doing his daily toil as a party member, our hero is responsible for altering the historic records to make sure they 'fit' with the current party ideology and military alliances. This leads him to question, initially in his mind, why this is required and eventually leads him to find 'the Book', which outlined why the 'Party' governs the way it does. 'The Book' is an game changer not only for our hero but as a reader it's amazingly close to the way super-powers operate. While the story that develops around our hero is excellent and a worthy read, focus on Orwell's narrative of the 'Book' and see how well he called the geopolitical machinations of today's super-powers..

I really liked this book. It is well written and it really made me think about the value of having privacy inside my own skull. It also made me wonder about how much of our free will IS free will and how much of it is manipulated. The story is fluid and easy to read. I seriously believe that this book is a must read, not only for science fiction lover but for everyone.

Quality is good too but the drawings on cover are wearing a little, but hey! Don't judge book by it's cover right? 😉 seriously though, good novel.

I've read it a few times but didn't have a copy of it and decided to get this beautiful edition. Really well bound and the book quality is great. * this I consider to be a book that everyone must read at least once!!! * It is brilliant and quite scary!

It's impossible not to be amazed after reading this book. That's incredible how even being first published in 1949, it's still so contemporary. I feel like reading it all over again.
