Fun and smart game for all ages!
Our whole family loves The Original Mastermind! The kids enjoy it, and honestly, so do I. It’s such a great game for getting everyone to think and strategize — it really gets the mind going. It’s inexpensive, easy to learn, and keeps everyone entertained without screens. A fun classic that never gets old!

This is a fun game for those who like strategy.
Mastermind is a code breaking game. It's quick and easy to learn but can be difficult to win. I had this game as a kid and bought it for my kids. We have had it over a year now and they still play it, unlike many other games I have purchased. How to play: One person sets up the code (code master) using colored pegs. The other person (code breaker) needs to break the code in less than 10 tries to win. The code master lets the code breaker know if she/he has the correct colored pegs in the correct order each round. The code breaker has 10 chances to break the code. If the code breaker figures it out he/she gets a point, if not the code master gets the point. Then players switch sides and scores can be kept on the board for most wins. This board is constructed of plastic as well as the pegs. States it is for ages 8 and up. This is pretty accurate as I think it may be a little difficult for younger kids to have this much strategy. I don't think there is an age where someone outgrows the game. Keep in mind, this game has a ton of small pieces that can be lost or put in the mouth. This is something to keep in mind if purchasing for a gift.

Great Brain Workkout!
I had several game sets 50 years ago in my 4th grade classroom for indoor recess days. An excellent learning tool that is fun. However, this recent purchase was for my local Senior Citizen Center. Still an excellent game to learn and play, to stimulate one’s brain. But the design is NOT good for Seniors. 1. The game board is black and colors are hard to distinguish especially against that black. 2. The code shield is nearly impossible to reach under and place the code pegs beneath it. 3. The tiny pegs are …tiny, and hard to handle for arthritic fingers. 4. The storage tray is an improvement, but again that tiny section for the tiny pegs is frustrating. I think my fourth graders would have the same difficulty with the code shield, too. I finally broke the tabs off that shield so it can be lifted out to position the code, and let it stand free over the code until revealed at the end. And I am seriously considering painting the game board white or cream so the colored pegs pop out. I’ve ordered another brand that is built differently. I hope it will be better. I’d like to suggest creating one for Seniors with these considerations. I would buy it!

One of my favorite board games
One of the best board games. I used to play this with my father when I was a kid. Finding this again and remembering it was an absolute gem. There’s just something overall nostalgic about this addictive game.

Perfect game for the value.
I recently discovered the classic version of this game through my brother. I immediately went to purchase this and was a little hesitant because of the top reviews (from 2017) stating how low quality this product is. I think, maybe, at the time, the product may have been lower quality but the version that I received was everything I hoped it would be. It's light, compact, and easy to store and play. For the price you pay, I think the product delivered was perfect. I would like to see the Top Reviews fall off so other opinions can move to the top because I'm sure the makers have learned from their mistakes and created a better product. I will say, my one drawback is the size of all the pieces. I'm constantly in fear that dropping one is gonna cause it to fall into the abyss of lost toys and game pieces, but I haven't lost a piece yet. This game is a fun and entertaining experience and if you just want a quick brain teaser, I'd say this game is the one for you and a friend or family member.
